Please help me - am trying to find the perfect outfit but keep defaulting to boring!! I am meeting someone for lunch, need to scrub up well but lunch is tricky to dress for in some ways as you want to look great but not as if you've really tried too hard! I'm aiming for stylish, on trend (but not crazily so), and just effortlessly wonderful but feel sadly clueless Grin

All ideas welcome ... this is me:

No jeans
Don't want to look worky
Have thick calves and ankles so skirts are problematic
I'm size 12 (10 on top), 5'6", 40 yrs old
Relatively chunky thighs so often find trousers may fit on waist but not on legs or vice versa
Budget maybe £200

Thank you!!!

Oh, there's no right or wrong in clothes - as darlingfascistbullyboy has so helpfully proved!

OP is your lunch week or weekend? If during the week I imagine most other people in the restaurant will be dressed for work. (Unless it's an "occasion".)

See I would go one way or the other
White blouse, black trousers with kick ass shoes or statement top, black skirt/ trousers and boots.

Personally I'd opt for the former as likely to get more wear after. So silky white blouse, slim not skinny trousers and then something stunning on my feet and a great bag - maybe some color ?

Right! Have opted for black skinny (but flattering) trousers, silk blouse, good shoes and coat and will dig out some statement jewellery. Sorted!! Thanks all so much xxx

Meant to say I bought the Boho blouse so thanks from me too FF! Will report back when it arrives. Think it will be fab in summer with shorts and a cross body bag and nice sandals. Going to try it with black or grey skinniest too though.
