Life's too short to have the same colour nail varnish on all the time?

Isn't it? I met a colleague at the nail salon today and she said that she always had red on, which I had never noticed before because I don't work with her that much. Surely its normal to want to change all the time?*

*I do know there are more important things in life this is none of my business, she can do what she wants. I was just wondering.

** Ditto jewelery.

I change my nail polish everyday to match what I'm wearing.

Datahub · 11/02/2015 20:44

when do you do it? do you commute?

I change it at least every week. I have a modest collection, but I have my favourites. If I can't choose between two it's even better because I can do that different-colour-on-the-ring-finger thing that all the cool kids do.

Currently sporting turquoise with baby pink ring finger on the left hand, opposite on the right hand(I felt very indecisive).

I love doing my nails and have them all colours! My favourite is a bluey purpley colour by American Apparel. I've got on the nails inc Victoria Beckham one today. I splurged. For no good reason!

It's more pink toned than the pic makes it look.

Is the very pointy look in then? Dos had a very young teacher for one of his subjects and at parents evening I noticed her very pointy nails which were painted black. I didn't like them at all.

Datahub - me and my sister call that colour 'a bit yiayia' - yiayia being our 91 year old Greek grandmother Grin

Datahub · 11/02/2015 22:23

lovely nails, Jackie. I bite mine if I dont have varnish on so they are not like yours in a million years!!

JackieTheFart · 11/02/2015 22:28

I massage Body Shop argan oil into my cuticles about four times a day (I've got dry hands in general). Since I've been doing that they grow stupidly fast!

Datahub · 11/02/2015 22:29

mine grow bu split or I start picking..

Oh God i cant find something else to have to worry about WAH

JackieTheFart · 11/02/2015 22:34

Honestly, mine used to peel like fuck so they were dead soft, they grew really long but broke really quickly as well coz they were in terrible shape. I just oil them after I've washed my hands after a toilet break!

Try it, any oil will do to be fair. It's only in the last year that my nails have been really nice. They're alwats polished though!

I wear a sort of version of Rouge Noir (very dark burgundy) pretty much all the time. Every time I change colour it looks like someone else's fingers and doesn't seem to go with anything.
It just feels right for me.

itsbetterthanabox · 12/02/2015 09:54

I change mine all the time. I love bright colours!
I know women in more formal jobs might not want to go crazy with colours but there's many shades that aren't mad but still different.
Medium/dark purple looks neat and still smart.
A chocolate colour with shimmer.
White sheers with a touch of shimmer in another colour.
Pale pink, various nudes, burgundy, navy. All look smart.

JackieTheFart · 12/02/2015 10:01

I work in senior management for a bank. I don't often go all out, but I wear colour and glitter and nail art and all sorts! It's the only place I get to go wild.

I've bought nails one Hearts, might put some over this colour later.

LeotheLioness · 12/02/2015 10:02

I change mine all the time too. Just went from a grayish silver to these yesterday.

LoadsaBlusher · 12/02/2015 14:17

I change mine every two or three days.
I have a massive nail polish collection and like to try new colours.
I tend to stick to a darker clout range in winter though, navy , dark greys, wines, reds.
In summer I like corals and reddy pinks.
I always have them short, painted and chip free at all times. I keep a bottle of whichever colour Im wearing in my handbag, in case I need to touch up a chip at work.

LoadsaBlusher · 12/02/2015 14:18
  • colour range not clout
burnishedsilver · 12/02/2015 18:35

I like to mix it up.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/02/2015 20:17

Leo - that's lovely, what is it?

I wear all sorts of different ones, sometimes I go for weeks without bothering at all, sometimes do them 2 or 3 times a week, occasionally have gels. Rarely get more than 48 hours without chipping or the tips wearing off with normal polish though.
