Anyone used Seche Vite?

I've seen some good reviews online, but am a florist, so my nails do get a battering... I'm just tired of sitting on the tube surrounded by glossy nails, with my dirty unkempt hands, and thought it might help! (Am still prepared to paint every other day, just can't see the point for a one paint-one day wear!)

I love it, but for it's fast drying properties and thick glossy look rather than it's hard wearingness, it seems no more chip proof than other top coats.

queenofthesaaf · 05/02/2015 19:01

I see, thanks for that! Just can't handle the commitment of a Shellac, and have never been to a nail salon (maybe after the madness of Valentine's and Mothering Sunday!).

I just started using it. Too soon to comment.

I had never had a professional manicure till last year, was very wary, but I have had gel three times now and it is so much longer lasting, had mine done last Fri and they look just as good today, I work in an office though, so they don't get rough treatment. My tip if you do try it is not to go to the cheapest place you can find, they can be a bit brutal with trimming cuticles etc, an established beauty salon is a more relaxing experience for a novice.

maybemyrtle · 05/02/2015 19:08

Yes, and I'd recommend it. A cheaper option is the Sally Hansen Insta Dry which is very good too. In fact, Seche Vite always goes thick and unusable for the last 1/4 bottle, I don't notice the same problem with the Sally Hansen. Have repurchased both.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/02/2015 19:08

Six weeks? Wow. Mine last a max of 2.5 weeks until the new growth is really noticeable and I can't go longer than 3 weeks without cutting them.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/02/2015 19:09

The SH instadry is my second favourite, super fast drying but not as thick and glossy as SV.

maybemyrtle · 05/02/2015 19:11

6 weeks?! Seriously? My nails must grow fast, the polish would have mostly grown out in that time. I'd get bored of the same colour after the first week in any case.

queenofthesaaf · 05/02/2015 19:14

I see awfuldaughter. That would be fine, might give it a go! I just find given nature of work and aggressive thorny plants nothing could hack it! But am going to treat myself, only issue now is finding somewhere good - I kid you not my local high street has 6 nail salons! It's just that and estate agents now in my neck of the woods, not the most fun/useful for a days shopping!

I'm a recent convert to Seche Vite and I have been really impressed with it.

I bought mine off amazon - was about £6.00 so not mega expensive but I will definitely repurchase.

PaperPomPom · 05/02/2015 19:54

I love it - again for the fast drying and glossy look. I got mine on Amazon too; when I repurchased I bought a salon size refill as I use it so much (nails done every few days).

Two days and already chipped. Not impressed at all.

burnishedsilver · 06/02/2015 08:17

Nail tek xtra, as an under coat and top coat makes my polish last ages. The available from salons. The other products in the range aren't as good.

Seche vite is great for speed and gloss but the polish peels off after a day or two.

Shellac destroyed my nails....3 times,3 different salons, professionally removed, same result. Never again. Even my toe nails were destroyed.

So do you apply it as a top coat and it makes your polish dry quickly?

AlwaysOneMissing · 06/02/2015 08:22

I was really impressed with seche vite, it kept my varnish good for the 2 or 3 days I wanted it too.
Very annoying that at least 1/4 of the bottle is lost as it goes thick and gloopy and the brush doesn't actually reach anywhere near the bottom of the bottle!! Why??!! Hmm

MadisonMontgomery · 06/02/2015 10:51

Seche Vite is amazing! They also do a nail polish thinner that restores any polish when it goes thick and gloopy, including top & base coats. Think it's about £10 but a huge bottle & it's rescued really dried up manky polish so more than paid for itself.
