Do any ladies have designer bags?

Do you dress better if you're using it and what sort of things do you wear?

Exactly. Also good fabrics. First thing I do when I see something I like is look at the label.

Watching with interest. Would love to buy a designer bag but find the prices unjustifyably breathtaking. I have never spent more than £80 -on a Fossil from TK Maxx. Or am I missing a trick? How much do you spend on bags and how do you afford / justify not saving the money for a rainy day?!
I have currently got my beady eye on a Liebeskind...

MsMcWoodle · 30/01/2015 20:06

I am probably older than you. Less rainy days left to worry about.

I have a YSL clutch.. I do dress well when wearing it but that's because it's a clutch so a dressy bag.

I'm about to purchase a Lanvin shoulder bag (see current thread 'help! Which bag?')- I intend to be clean and tidy when wearing it but I'll be happy wearing it with more casual outfits too - I like the contrast...

Dh bought one of my bags for me as a anniversary gift. The other I bought myself with a months overtime money. Figured if worked stupid hard and deserved a treat.

Yes they were pricey but I don't use any ither bags. I can justify the cost knowing they'll be used, loved until they fall apart.

Brookville - we already have savings for a rainy day. My bag cost about £200 and I have used it every day for just over a year and it still looks brand new. I think that is quite good value.

Rainy days are more enjoyable when you're carrying a nice handbag Smile

Great. Feeling less guilty about coveting one now!

Brook a day out to a designer village like Bicester or factory shop (Mulberry has one) can save hundreds. Also TK Maxx Gold range online.
Dress agencies have nearly new/as good as new sometimes.
My secret charity shop opposite a fashion mag often gets bags from shoots donated if the interns haven't taken them... ditto one in a v posh area where people buy a new designer bag monthly and donate almost new.

Or hit the sales hard!

I've got a black Marc Jacobs hobo. It's my everyday bag (can't be doing with switching bags constantly) and I love it because it's smart enough to go with a suit an casual enough to look good with jeans. Good investment.

I'm not really into bags though, hence having one that I use all the time. I have clutches for the evening but I haven't spent a lot on those- most expensive was an Osprey one in the sale which was about £100.

oops, just noticed this is an old thread, but wanted to pick it up again as it's a rainy Saturday and talking about handbags is cheery (for me anyway!) Smile

Anyway, yes, I love a designer handbag. First one was a Gucci which DH is still fond of telling everyone cost more than our bathroom suite (we were having it done at the time). Since then have acquired several others of various designer brands, and have just ordered a Marc Jacobs from a designer resale site which had been recommended to me by a friend. I love having a good bag, even when I'm just wearing Primark jeans and t-shirt. Seems to elevate the outfit somehow, for me anyway
