That's about it really. Any UK sites?

That site looks dodgy as hell!

Echoing this above: please don't just put anything on your face, without consulting with a dermatologist, these drugs are prescription only, for a reason, they are so concentrated and should only be used under the supervision of a professional,

FortuneHill · 12/02/2017 13:44

Sorry to bump this, but has anyone found any trusted UK sites yet?

It seems very hard to buy here in the UK.

ilovecherries · 12/02/2017 17:20

My friend buys it from DrFox online. I haven't bought it myself, but I have bought other stuff from there - mainly private prescription drugs for my DS to take on his gap year - the practice nurse recommended them for anti-parasitic drugs and anti malarials, so it seems to be a legit site. Everything arrived the next day, properly labelled etc.

Missbohan · 12/02/2017 17:22

Why do you need to buy online? Just get the obagi one - tons of clinics sell it and give you the prescription for it.

FortuneHill · 12/02/2017 17:43

ilovecherries - I have just looked on the website, and the closest that is sold is Isotrex, which is similar, but I don't think it is as effective as tretinoin.

Missbohan - I wasn't aware you could get them from GP's or Clinics? I heard they no longer provide in the UK? Can you confirm if yourself, or anyone else has done this lately? I heard it was hard to get hold of back in 2012 onwards in the UK.

Missbohan · 12/02/2017 18:04

Yeah i read this and was baffled by it - obagi tretinoin is retin a. And lots of clinics sell it - google obagi and check stockists near you. Don't know re GPs I never asked them. You can get different types of retinol if you go to a dermatologist - consultation more expensive but they probs sell cheaper retin a. I got mine last week in a clinic on harley street in london that is listed as a provider on obagi website. Don't buy off some website when you can just go and actually get it from a clinic - better to be safe than sorry.

Missbohan · 12/02/2017 18:05

Ps literally on the tube of obagi it says 'tretinoin' and then whatever strength you have been prescribed. Maybe certain brands stopped supplying in UK or something. Sometimes when I go to the states I get my obagi there and it is identical to the one I get here in London so I don't know about not being able to get it - confused but anyway yeah I get it all the time!

FortuneHill · 12/02/2017 18:08

How much did you pay for it from the clinic, may I ask?

It seems so expensive to buy the branded obagi one.

Missbohan · 12/02/2017 18:10

Can't remember the breakdown cause i get a few things but i reckon about £70. Works for me though and i like that i know what i am getting. It probably can be got cheaper but i never bothered to check because i like the obagi one so don't have any more info other than that sorry Flowers

FortuneHill · 12/02/2017 21:11

Thanks. £70 does seem a lot, I guess thats because it's a branded product.

Isotrex seems to be the alternative prescription gel that has replaced Retain A.

Isotrex = Isotretinoin
Retin A = tretinoin

Isotrex is around £8 and works the same way, so it seems a no brainer really? Anyone else have any opinions on this?

Missbohan · 12/02/2017 21:28

Hmm no idea - there are different types of retin a though. Why don't you just go and buy the £8 one wherever you have found it and see how you get on? Sounds great!

FortuneHill · 12/02/2017 21:47

I may just do! Thanks so much for your help anyway : )

I get Aknemycin plus on prescription 0.025% tretinoin and erythromycin combo. For acne. Used to get retin A but it became unavailable about 3/4 years ago. No longer on prescribing list.

KinLondon · 26/03/2017 13:23

For those that were able to get a prescription in London, could you share the name of the Dermatologist?

Pandaeyes1234 · 27/03/2017 21:59

DO NOT use isotretinoin. I literally signed up just to say this. I am a pharmacist and isotretinoin has many things that need to be monitored by a qualified doctor. For one it is extremely harmful to unborn babies, you have to go on a pregnancy prevention plan to use it. Get it prescribed by a doctor if you're that desperate, a prescription in the UK is only £8.40 and you'll get the correct medical advice you require.

Hello I have been using 0.5% tretinoid cream for about 2 weeks and I haven't gone red or peeled is this unusual

burnishedsilver · 16/07/2017 15:19

Mine didn't go red or peel either, thank goodness. I did get the odd spot (which is unusual for me) as I was phasing it in. It has worked really well. I've been using it almost 2 years now.

  • All Retin-A products have risks associated with unborn children not just Isotretinoin.

Tret is available over the counter in Spain and Greece thankfully. I see my derm every three months in clinic ( and most weekends out of clinic har har!) and she is fine with me sourcing my own tret - but she is a personal friend of mine so I suppose that might be why.

Catsandkids78 · 05/04/2018 17:03

also @pandaeyes - most people are using it here for antiaging and the NHS will not prescribe this . Some trusts don't even prescribe it for acne.

I stock up in Portugal or Spain. It’s 3 Euro’s there! No way would I pay £70.

You do need to know what you are doing with it. I spent a year and a half on retinol first then moved to Retin-A twice a week. If you go slow then you don’t necessarily have the redness and peeling.

Also the farmacie Andorra site ships here.

dinero12 · 04/12/2019 17:56

I use a UK based website to order my Retin-A and it's always proved to 100% reliable for me. I don't think your allowed to put website links on this forum so put tretinoin online sales as one word in to Google and I think it’s the first result that comes up.
