Urgent! Can I wear jeans for a work meeting?

I work in a creative role so generally dress very casually but I have occasional meetings with clients or people we're working with when I need to look a bit smarter.

I've got one tomorrow and nothing in my wardrobe seems suitable - I am crap at being smart anyway but this time of year is a nightmare. When it's warmer I wear slim black trousers with flats or low heels but that look just doesn't work with boots which I need for warmth and practicality (fair bit of walking involved). I look incredibly frumpy (that word!) and just don't feel right.

I've narrowed what I've got down to a nice silky top, chunky ankle boots and very dark skinny jeans which I'd wear with a tailored coat if cold or a trench if milder. I'm aiming for a stylish, smart casual, creative sort of look. Do you think I can get away with this or does wearing jeans, even smart ones, look disrespectful or too casual? I'm new to the job and going with a senior colleague so it's really important I get this right - clearly should have sorted an outfit sooner :(.

Go for it! If you feel comfortable and confident, that's more important.
I wear black jeans fairly regular in a corporate / creative role and wouldn't notice if agency creatives came in jeans ( as long as rest of outfit was smartish - as yours sounds!)

No jeans. Wear tights underneath the trousers.

Update - I went with the outfit I'd planned but with smart trousers instead of jeans. They didn't go as well but I felt more appropriate. The lady we met with was sitting behind a desk so I'm not sure what she had on. My male colleague wore jeans Confused.

I really need help with this smarter dressing lark, I just can't do it. I've got a close family funeral to go to in a couple of weeks and I'm similarly clueless about what to wear :(.

I think very dark, very smart jeans, with a rest of outfit as described would have been fine in almost any situation (maybe not the Palace for your MBE..)
Trouble with funerals is that you go for the living not the dead . I nearly wore red for my dad's funeral (it suits me and he loved me in it) I bottled out in the end as I didn't want to offend anyone . I did wear it when we received him into chapel the night before though (close family only)
Sounds as though you need a really good pair of thickish black trousers for this time of year ?

I have to meet with designers sometimes and they always wear jeans, even when they're pitching for work.

I often wear smart, dark jeans with a jacket for meetings and I've never felt inappropriately dressed although I should add that I don't work anywhere corporate.

For the funeral I'd just wear something dark and unobtrusive unless there are specific family wishes. Sorry for your loss.
