Grey hair!

I am mid 30's and up until about 6 months ago, I highlighted my hair blonde, and had done for 15+ years. I went back to natural (dark blonde/light brown, some might liken it to a similar colour as a mouse.... But not too mousey!) annnnyway I had a few v subtle highlights in to transition into new colour but now it's all natural and am surprised by how much I love it, I'm saving money and I think it looks good too! HOWEVER, I am beginning to notice more than a few stray greys which have probably been there a while but we're less noticeable, being dyed... So should I be dying again? There's not that many, but I don't doubt it's the start of things to come! What do you darker haired sorts do?

Dyed. For about 8 years now. Wish I had not. Now I am agonising over the hell of growing out the dye. Which, because I am about 30% grey now with particularly dense bits at the front is not going to be easy. I now have to have my roots done every 4-5 weeks as the badger stripe becomes very apparent (to me - my hairdresser says it is not that bad).

Anyway, so I have a long term plan to ditch the dye and I am going (hopefully) to go grey with pizazz and glamour. Gradually lightening my base colour over the next few months and next appointment I am going to add in some striking grey/white streaks at the front. And hopefully I will not give in if the contrast is too big between natural midbrown with grey bits and the block colour of my dyed hair.

If all else fails I will cut it all off into a pixie and start again from there.

I am 44.

I wish, wish, wish I had never started dying it. I would not have this issue. I look at 2 or 3 of my friends who have not dyed and they look great. Yes a few greys. One actually has quite a lot of grey but it blends in well with her blond hair - so you have to really look several times to work out if it is grey or blond.

Hairdressers will persuade you it is a great idea to dye.

Thank you. Might just do nothing for now as loving natural shade and there aren't too many... Yet!

I think the best way to disguise grey is with blonde highlights. I started going grey as a teenager due to my dad's genes but now at 40 I must be about 40% grey. I have blonde, caramel and brown highlights run through my hair every few months and it looks really quite acceptable (would look perfect if I had it done more regularly but I'm too lazy).

I'm 64 but haven't given in yet .Charles Worthiimgton do a brilliant spray that will conceal grey roots in that last week or so .I have 'tousled' style so I don't get that awful tramline effect .Its Dh who still has all his hair and has gone a lovely distinguished silver who encourages it ..
However have plot with hairdresser to go very very short pixie cut in Oct as we are going to a hot country for my 65th and my hair tends to go flat when sweaty .Any remaining dye will be stripped out and I will be 100% silver .I will then grow out into a bob which really suits me but doesnt 'work'IMO when you dye your hair My mum had lovely hair and I'm the same colouring so fingers crossed .If I hate it I will have it dyed and grow it longer again

I have started to let my grey grow through after years of dying it. I have a few highlights round the front to help it blend in while I'm growing the all-over dye out. Grey hair is nothing to be ashamed of: better to be a bit grey than one of those women who have unconvincing khaki/flat black hair with a white stripe along the parting.

Go grey. You'll not regret it. I'm 44 and I've gone grey over the last 10 years. I used to have a French crop but grew it out and now have a curly bob which is mostly grey. I think the trick to pulling off grey hair is a really good cut and keeping it in good condition.

I'm just letting it go grey, I don't pluck them out etc.
