House of Colour or Colour Me Beautiful

Hello

I'm planning to get my colours done and wonder if anyone knows if House of Colour or Colour Me Beautiful are better. Presumably there's no answer to this as it'll depend on the consultant but I thought I'd ask anyway. Alternatively does anyone recommend anyone in Cheshire/North Wales?

Thanks.

I'll be interested in this too CheshireS
I was considering asking DP to get me this a Valentine's gift instead of the container load of chocs that i secretly love but still scold him and blame him for being fat, then scarf em all down
I need some where in South Yorkshire though.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 22/01/2015 18:16

FatSacks- I'm not in South Yorkshire but I've had a HoC consultation and it was fab. I follow this consultant based near Sheffield and think she sounds fab.

I used house of colour and it was brilliant, life changing. Consultant was based in Bolton though which might be out of your way depending which part of Cheshire you're in. I would highly recommend her, PM if you want more details.

I used CMB a few years ago, loved it, was fab for clothes and make up, still use the advice now.

I think HOC is a lot more precise and unlike CMB, not only do they tell you your seaosn, but also rate each colour into categories (stars and ticks) and also by how much of it you can wear.

HoC is waaaaaaaay better.

not a HoC consultant in any way WinkGrin

RockMummy · 23/01/2015 17:37

Love my HOC colour consultation. Discovered so many other colours I would never have tried.

SludgeBrown · 23/01/2015 19:38

I'm a little biased as I trained with CMB but no longer consult. I researched both companies and they're BOTH good. I think it's more important to find a consultant that you can connect with. Ring a few up, you'll get a good feeling of who you like. I chose CMB because they moved away from seasons (there are only 4). CMB have 6 dominant and then fine tune the rest of your palette with further colours.

Hoc - much more fashion forward

Ps. Go to Hopefully
!

Thanks everyone. Imagine sludgebrown could be one of my colours. I'll look around the local consultants. 1 HOC and numerous CMB.

Hopefully, I assume you're nowhere near me?!

Dressing your truth is really good and you can do your colours for free online .

HoC definitely!

When I was younger I had very dark hair, without a hint of red, and used to wear bright jewel Winter colours (remember back in the day when there were only four seasons!). But as I've got older and faded they've seemed too strong for me. Plus hairdressers and opticians would look at my hazel eyes (lovely amber and turquoise seen close up in bright light, sadly murky dingy hazel when more than a few inches away) and say I was warm.

So, determined to be a Winter, off I went to a CMB consultant who diagnosed me Deep Warm Soft. Meaning I can wear 30 deep colours across the board including black (hurrah!), plus 6 each of deep warm and warm soft, but hardly any light colours and should stick to gold jewelery. (But if I when I let my hair go grey - which would be a lovely steely pewter grey - I would then become cool, whereas HoC say you don't change season, though can change within it.)

This just didn't feel right so off I went to HoC - this time to a training session so it would be free and so that I'd get the expert advice of a trainer. She said I was very difficult to do, started with warm (boo) then cool (hurrah) then back to warm (boo) finally settling on: Blue Autumn on the cusp of Summer!

And it feels exactly right. Apparently I'm very rare which makes me feel quite exotic. Although I'm Autumn I''m right at the far blue (as opposed to yellow) end so my best colours are lovely soft pale or mid tone vintagey colours, or deep rich colours, not the oranges, yellows, khakis and browns you'd typically associate with Autumn. My hair will look lovely if I go grey - whereas a Yellow Autumn would look too dingy - and I can wear silver or gold jewelry but the best thing for me is to wear both together.

I can't believe how quickly and easily I've embraced my inner (Blue) Autumn and have started wearing more beautiful tops rather than boring old white t-shirts. I know people say just say wear whatever colour you want, and of course I still wear things that aren't 'my' colour, but the best thing is that all my new colours really do blend in with each other, and I now wear some colours that I love but would never have worn before.

And although HoC say don't wear black I do cheat a bit and still wear it because CMB says I can. Best of both worlds!

So yes, HoC every time. Although in an ideal world I'd say do both but preferably at a training session.

Good luck!

I used a fab hoc consultant in Cheshire (in Bramhall) and would definitely recommend. Loved it, and it's been incredibly helpful. I travelled a bit further as she seemed more in tune with my style than the more local one.

How are these presented? Do you go to a class? is it private or public? do they come to your house? Thought might be fun for my Mum and me.
