What is this Boden of which you speak?

I know it's a website that sells clothes and things, but how do all of mumsnet know about it?

It seems like everyone on here apart from me owns something from there. I'd never, ever heard of it before I joined mumsnet. What's the big secret?

Also a lot of people seem to shop at Fat Face and The White Stuff. I know those only because I've seen them but I didn't think people actually shopped there.

What is this? I thought everyone shopped at normal high street shops (Primark, River Island, Top Shop, New Look), or a supermarkets or at department stores? Is it a class thing? Is this because I was brought up in East London? What's the mystery?

Am aware my post is borderline hysterical.

Well if they are I'd like to say how much I hate their new website - FAR to many mouse clicks required!

I generally wish chain stores, particularly medium/high end, would take notice of the regular threads on MN about the poor quality of fabrics, fastening and artificial fibres that are becoming the norm.

teawamutu no, I've not tried a bra intervention but have seen a few threads and am very curious!

Re: Boden - I feel like I'm not in Boden's demographic but I want to wear some Boden stuff, but I want the stuff of yesteryear as apparently it's gone downhill.

I too have never heard of Boden before MN. Its not my thing at all.

I discovered Boden when I bought a skirt on ebay a few years ago. Their prints are generally hideous but they do coats and skirts in bright colours, which I love.

As for pricing, I don't think they're too bad; I have clothes I bought in Jigsaw late 90s and early 2000s and they cost the same as Boden do now. I think the likes of Primark have ruined many of us with regard to the actual cost of clothes.

I have quite a lot of Boden dresses for work. Blush But they are all plain, or have a subtle print, and can therefore be accessorised with other stuff and not look like you've walked out of the catalogue. I think, pick carefully - a lot of the stuff is frumpy or OTT with the patterns, but some of it is fine. Oh and I only ever buy in the sales, or with at least 20% off.
