A good natural stretch mark oil please?

I want to prevent any stretch marks as my baby bump grows, but not sure which product to use? I've heard a lot about Bio-oil, but don't want anything with chemicals or petroleum in the ingredients! I've also heard that essential oils are a no-no in pregnancy... Can anyone recommend a good natural stretch mark oil without added fragrances/essential oils?

I liked this one BUT stretch marks are really down to genes and luck.

I did get stretch marks when I ran out of this one at 38 weeks and went onto bio oil but I suspect that had more to do with being 38 weeks pregnant.

Agree genes do play a big part. But oils or butters definitely can help too. I am currently using Really Good Stretch mark oil from Fushi for my baby bump as it was recommended by a friend who used it during her pregnancy. I had heard Rosehip oil was great for stretch marks, and this one from Fushi contains Rosehip and many other oils. Can see the difference in skin tone for sure so far. My friend swears by it. You can find it here:

My sister used Cocoa butter and that worked well for her too. Make sure you apply liberally that's the key. Good luck!

I love this weleda one. It smells lovely too. I don't have stretch marks post baby but don't know if that is down to the oil or genes!

I just used plain wheatgerm oil. I did get a couple of stretch marks on the underside of the bump but only noticed them afterwards. If you do use it get the refined version as the unrefined smells a bit.

I used Elemis Japanese camillia oil every day throughout all three pregnancies. Was really lovely and I don't have any stretch marks - though hard to say that was down to the oil. Probably more likely genetic as my mum didn't get any either!

50/50 mix of olive oil and avocado oil
Rosehip oil
Jojoba oil

no evidence for any of them. Waste of money. If your genes are right, your stretch marks will disappear whether you do anything or not. If the genes are wrong, all the posh oils in the world will do nothing. It is the definition of snake oil.

Chemicals are found in nature, in fact you are a walking lump of chemicals. Please read this. If everyone did, the snake oil sellers would find life a lot harder.

That link doesn't make any sense. The chemicals in plants called phytochemicals are beneficial to us. I do agree we have a lot of chemicals in our bodies, but that's just one more reason to avoid artificial man-made ingredients, that collect in our tissues and have negative effects. There's no research into natural products, because there's no money in them. However, people try pure products and get results, that's why I'm asking for recommendations.

I'll probably give the Really Good Stretch Mark Oil a go, sounds interesting, I like the ingredients in it

I applied cocoa butter and Bio Oil liberally every day throughout my pregnancy and I still got them, BUT continued to apply after and they definitely faded a lot and very quickly. When they're at the red stage you can still do something about them.

I recommend the Clarins one, it's a cream, think it's called Stretch Mark control

AttitudeOfGratitude · 22/01/2015 10:21

I just used sweet almond oil twice a day on my bump and didn't get a single one. I already had some elsewhere so definitely prone to them. I read about it in one of those French parenting books.
