Cleanser & Moisturiser for super sensitive skin

I have really sensitive skin and most moisturisers seem to make my skin tingle. My skin is dry.

The most recent ones I have tried are olay total effects and the aldi day moisturiser but have also used liz earle, clinique, bootz no 7 but have tried so many in the past. I have also used dermalogica products for sensitive skin which seemed to work for a while.

At the moment I am using liz earle cleanser which is ok but doesn't really seem to hit the spot.

Any recommendations - I don't spending a bit more but fed up of buying lots of products that still don't suit.

I've got very sensitive skin too - when it is particularly sensitive I use AVENE cream cleanser, water spray and moisturiser. (Not to be confused with Aveeno) you can get it in larger boots stores and I have too tried a lot of different products!!

My face hurts when I don't use the right stuff Sad. My latest routine is hot water on a soft flannel in the morning, followed by Weleda skin food. Night time is Ponds cold cream, taken off with hot flannel and more Weleda skin food or Eight Hour Cream. Seems to be working...

Have you tried a cleansing oil? The Shu Uemura ones are fantastic. Do you have a Space NK nearby? The salespeople are very helpful and always give me good advice and samples!

I use the Oil Cleansing Method at night (castor oil mixed with olive oil and some lavender oil), it's like hot cloth cleansing, just you make up the cleanser yourself from oils - a lot more economical too! I found this article very helpful on how to make a cleanser according to your skin type www.fushi.co.uk/healthy-lifestyle-news/oil-cleansing-method-for-glowing-skin/

For moisturizing, I stick with organic rosehip oil from Fushi, my sensitive skin loves it

Thanks - you have given me some new ideas.

It is just so dry and sore if I use the wrong thing that I need to find something new.

I've very dry skin prone to eczema and it stings if I use the wrong product on it.
I'd agree with other posters, try an oil based cleanser. I use Body Shop Camomile cleansing balm taken off with damp cotton wool.
I've used Clinique's dd moisturiser for years for general use and Eucerin's Aquafor balm for very dry patches. Eucerin's whole range is v good for sensitive, dry skin and doesn't cost £££s.

I like the La Roche Posay line, my skin is sensitive oily and use lots of products from their range.

After a lot of trial and error (and much stinging) I now follow this routine:

Morning: Moisturise with either coconut oil or wheatgerm oil. Wait a few minutes for it to sink in then 'Ultrasun Face' SPF 30 for very sensitive skin.

Evening: Cleanse with almond oil and a hot flannel (I think most oils would probably do the job but just ordinary oil, not that fancy facial oil stuff.)
Then coconut or wheatgerm oil on top.

If I stick to that, I don't have any problems. There are a small number of other products that I will use very occasionally. These are:
Dr Organics Extra Virgin Olive Oil Moisturiser (from Holland and Barrett)
Or Neals Yard Frankincense cream.
Or Nivea in a blue pot. This one surprised me as it's quite perfumy but my skin doesn't mind it for some reason.

But as a general rule, the fewer products/ingredients I use, the better my skin is. Sorry that was so long!

Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser is amazing and when my skin has a complete meltdown it's all I can use.

However, after years of trying any and everything out there I have found that Nivea sensitive cleanser and day cream are the best thing I've used for every day, and I've bought at least five or six of them on the trot, unheard of for me! Very reasonable and the day cream is fab because although it's quite creamy, my make up goes on perfectly and I don't feel greasy or claggy

A note on oil cleansing versus cleansing oils - cleansing oils contain emulsifiers which bond with the water and so help the oil to wash off cleanly. A good cleansing oil will splash off cleanly and is amazingly gentle and thorough. Oil cleansing with pure oils is a faff ime to get your face actually clean - great if you like using cloths but I find my face hates cloths and flannels (sensitive skin) and so a splash off cleanser that I can just use my fingers to massage in and rub off is best.

Shu Uemura if you have ££, or Body Shop camomile if you have £.

But generally Avene is great for sensitive skin. And yes to a good daily high SPF too.
