There are so many millions of them. I have no idea if they make any difference at all infact I'm not even sure what they are supposed to do. Blush. However, I get the feeling I might be missing out on something.
Am I?
If you use them could you tell me what you use and why?
Many thanks from an ignorant person

I use Clarins serum day and night.
I have reached an age when I need all the help I can get.....

I use a moisture serum. It has run out and my skin hasn't noticed. I am going to try a we one, but I suspect that I'll eventually give up using serum.

I use the Aldi one's under moisturiser - my skin feels much more supple using them - they are only £3.49 each and I really notice it if I skip using them - they have been featured in magazines and had commendations etc - I think there are 3 different types depending on your age or skin type

sorry should not have put an apostrophe on ones

I'm not noticing much difference for my £65
I use murad wrinkle reducer

Also got a large sample of dermalogica power firm eye cream - bit meh about that too.

rookiemere · 20/01/2015 19:35

I use the Superdrug one that's on half price. Can't say I have noticed much difference, but then I didn't notice much difference when I used the clarins one which was 10X the price either.

Annarose2014 · 20/01/2015 19:36

I use the Aldi serum as well. Its super moisturising so if you've dry skin it really doubles the power of whatever moisturiser you use.

And during the summer I ditch the moisturiser and just use serum + sunscreen.

Its crazy spending big bucks on it though.

Floisme · 20/01/2015 20:10

No I don't. You only need read the adverts to see that they all they do is 'improve the appearance of wrinkles' - just the same as a moisturiser.

The only over-the-counter product that makes a difference, in my opinion, is sunscreen.

bigbuttons · 20/01/2015 20:15

Thank you! Oh Aldi. I love Aldi. So they improve the moisturiser?
Ok,m I'll get one in my next shop.
I suppose I should have a special eye cream too?

I too use a Superdrug one. Its a moisture one. Keeps my face nice and moisturised :)

Serum is different from moisturisers because of the texture. So quite often a brand would have a moisturiser and a serum on offer, both using the same active ingredients. A serum is usually concentrated and light in texture, whereas a moisturiser is usually creamier and could contain other things like sunscreen, brighteners and of course moisture giving ingredients, which a serum may not always have. Serums are designed as a way to add concentrated ingredients to the routine. I started adding serum to my routine since I turned 40. I find it's also a useful way for me to bring two brands together for different benefits, so one in serum form and one as moisturiser. As you say there are millions of them, just like moisturisers some good some bad, and it depends on what your skin needs. Not everyone needs a serum.
