Fell out of love with Boden and Gap-bad quality! Where else to shop?

I don't know where else to shop...2 tops from Boden shrunk, jacket's zip broke and Gap tops bought inDec sale already bobbled.
At the moment I am BFing so wearing skinny jeans with tops most of the time and shopping mostly online.
Where else can I look that doesn't cost the earth and is of reasonable quality?!

Oh yes, Esprit is great, although they seem to have shut down a lot of their UK stores. In France and Germany every town has a least one branch, so I tend to stock up when I'm on holiday.

Fab ideas! Thank you for introducing me to some lovely shops, love the look of Elganso, uniqlo, Mint Velvet. Will also try fatface and white stuff. Hope the quality is a better, I should have returned those items to Boden but it's so much hassle with a baby and a 3 year old... Two brenton tshirts I bought there shrunk (one more than the other) and look shapeless.
Anyway, I am off to do some online shopping now :-)

You can still send the things back to Boden, they give you a year!

Esprit website is really good with free delivery and returns by the way.

Pannacotta · 21/01/2015 20:45

Esprit, H&M, Zara are all good.

RecklessSerenade · 21/01/2015 20:46

Whitestuff is pretty good quality. If you sign up for the catalogue you get 15% off every time a new catalogue comes out. Love Fatface but last couple of tops I bought shrunk after first wash - very annoying as I'm tall and their stuff fits just nicely until it shrinks.

I love
Landsend
Superdry! Yep. Think Japanese again and the quality blows gap and boden out the water. At my age the items I would wear in there are limited but plain knits, tee's and jeans are the best on UK high street.

I told Gap just this week I would never set foot in there again.

If you've got long legs, I have recently found Phase 8 very good for trousers. I also have a cardy I got there years ago which is still going strong. That said, their stuff is usually smarter and more middle-aged than most of what I wear.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who's found Gap quality v patchy of late. Sportswear, knits, and pants still ok but I've ordered quite a few tops I've had to send back in the last year or two - weirdly short (even in the "tall" length - at this stage I need to go for things billed as "tunics" in tall to get something that actually comes over my hips) or fabric that I know will bobble within seconds.

Agree with Seasalt for Breton tops (I have two and they wash/last brilliantly, also long enough for my freakish torso). Also love Cos for tops, though you need to try stuff on as their sizing is sometimes a bit random - lovely quality and nice shapes. H and M has some nice stuff too.

Also, if you're in the south, try Mistral.

They also do mail order, sizing about the same as Fat Face so not too skimpy.

Sleepyhoglet · 22/01/2015 11:34

For breastfeeding wear or for general?

Sleepyhoglet · 22/01/2015 11:42

Love layers and basics or hush?

BazilGin · 24/01/2015 07:45

thanks for more ideas, I will check them all out. I am wearing normal clothes for breastfeeding, just can't wear dresses at the mo.
I forgot about mistral, but some of it can be too flowery for my liking, same with white stuff. I just need to start mixing and matching more, instead of looking like a walking gap advert!
Espirit looks really good too.
