Acne- gone!

I'd been meaning to post for a while but didn't want to speak to soon.

I posted about a year ago- desperate about my bad skin/acne. It had started in mid-30's when I'd stopped bfeeding dc1. I'd put up with it for a few years, not knowing the reason.

I'm not a vain person but it got me down so much that I didn't want to leave the house because it was so bag and I couldn't cover the cysts/spots/redness all around my chin and lips.

Anyway. I'll get to the point. I went to gp nearly a year ago. She prescribed me Zineryt. I had no faith that it would work but thought I'd go along and try anything. Gp warned it would dry out my skin.

So. It did dry out my skin slightly- this only lasted a couple of days. The spots went within a week and I haven't had a spot since then.

I just wanted to share. I know it won't help for everyone, but it's worth a go.

That's great news.

I have pcos and am really spotty. I asked the GP for it, but she said they don't really prescribe it anymore and gave me something she said was better.

It didn't really work. I changed my skincare range to one for sensitive skin and it's improved loads.

ah, lovely post. Glad you found your cure. I think I remember reading your original post. I'm currently trying Duac, prescribed by Dr. As soon as I stop it, I break out again. makes my skin feel so tight and stains towels, clothes and bedding. How do you maintain yours? ?

Thanks.

I use Avene products as I have sensitive skin (I had rosacea for a few years prior to the acne!). I don't think this either helps or hinders the acne. I've just kept to the Avene regime for the past 6 or so years and keeps my rosacea at bay. After the course of zineryt I've done nothing re the acne. It seems to have stayed away. If/when it returns I'll ask to be put back on that asap. It really was my miracle cure.

The zineryt only made skin tight/dry for at the most a week (and I am prone to dry skin). You only use it where you have the problem- so my whole face was not dry IYSWIM, only the area around my mouth chin, and as i say that only lasted for a week or so. I wish I'd have tried it earlier! I really think it's worth pushing to with your gp to try it. It may not work for you, but it's definitely worth a go. Best of luck.

I've been trialing Paula's Choice products (have a look online)with some success, though admittedly my skin is generally a bit better now than before, and her beautypedia website. However, you may also need something form the GP- could they prescribe a clindamycin lotion (lotion or liquid)?
