Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - that one or the 'serum gel' one?

Has anybody tried either or both of these, and if so which would you recommend please? I usually wear Bourjois 10 hour sleep effect but keeping hearing good things about the above and fancy trying something different - but don't know which version would suit my skin...

I'm starting to get the odd fine line and have some visible pores - I also get a bit oily around my nose during the day...

There have been a few threads about this and the general consensus (and my view) is get the non-serum one, especially if you have oily skin. I love the normal one, I haven't tried the serum but people say it's a bit slimy and slippery.

Thanks, I will go for that one Smile

And sorry - I probably should have done a search on the subject first...

I liked the serum one (I have dry skin), although I did find it was very yellow in the palest shades.

I bought the non serum one too as I wear a serum anyway. It's a good all round foundation. I bought it in Boots and got a lovely Bourjois free gift with lipstick, eyeshadow trio, mascara and polish in it. Was very pleased with that. :)

The non-serum is deffo the best one!

auldspinster · 19/01/2015 13:39

I like them both but i do have quite dry skin.

Kittykat7 · 19/01/2015 14:38

I found the serum one too greasy.

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 19/01/2015 15:02

I have dry skin and love the serum one. It's light and moisturising but I agree not suitable for oily skin. It's very light and not greasy at all, but it gives a dewy look.

They will have testers in Boots so test a little of each on the back of your hand and see which you prefer.

Buzzard - it's irrelevant whether you use a skincare serum - it's just a word that describes the consistency of the product.

BuzzardBird · 19/01/2015 16:23

So there is no added serum? Sounds like it would be too greasy for me though from above comments.

MakeMeWarmThisWinter · 19/01/2015 20:50

No, the word serum just describes the consistency of the product, as in 'lotion' 'cream' 'liquid' 'serum' etc.

Fwiw I think skincare serums are mostly a ripoff - they don't contain anything you can't get from a moisturising cream. Fine if you use the serum instead, but layering products based on how they've been manufactured to feel is the ultimate con. No one needs a serum and a cream unless one or other contains an ingredient missing in the other that you particularly feel you want. Buy a more expensive cream rather than use two products.

Sorry for tangent!

Mine do have different active ingredients and do make a difference to my skin. They give a nicer finish. I know it's just the silicates in them as am pretty sure my skin is watertight but some products help fill the gaps. Grin
