Fancy London spa day

StepfauxWife · 17/01/2015 13:25

I am bloody knackered and need a treat. I'm going to book a spa day in London to rest my sleep-deprived, over worked limbs. No budget in particular, just looking for something ultra spoiling.

Anyone had any good experiences recently and care to share?

Thanks in advance!

Bumping with interest…

The Sanctuary in Covent Garden is always very nice.

HermioneWeasley · 17/01/2015 15:08

The sanctuary closed last year! Gutted as IMO it was the best spa in the UK - so much to do.

I quite fancy going here

I had a spa day at the Corinthia Hotel last year (near Embankment). Really luxurious but super pricey!

Stokey · 17/01/2015 17:45

I was just coming on to say the Corinthia Newscenes. I haven't been to the St Pancreas Spa but the hotel is lovely. I had read that the Spa can get quite busy with not enough loungers, may depend what day you can go.

If no budget and you want the full spa experience then I'd go for the Mandarin Oriental. If you are more interested in one or two lovely treatments and better value then the Elemis Day Spa is lovely.

I had a lovely time at the Elemis Day Spa, and loved that it was in some little back street near Bond St tube, so area to stroll around in.

Akasha at Cafe Royal. Expensive but wonderful Smile

Wonderful ideas, thank you! I will definitely take a look at all these. I really like the look of the Corinthia. I would be going on a Tuesday so hopefully it'll be nice and quiet. Ooh can virtually taste the luxury.

I wasn't that impressed by Elemis Belinda, although they have lovely products. The room I was in was very cold and when I asked the masseuse to concentrate on my aching shoulders, she said don't worry, we'll cover everything.

I may just have been unlucky. It is in a great location for shopping

Lyndie · 18/01/2015 08:06

I'm going to the Corinthia next weekend!! Can't wait. Grin We're staying 2 nights as part of DH work jolly. Good to hear it's well thought of!!

StepfauxWife · 18/01/2015 13:21

Lyndie you lucky thing! Would be great if you could report back.

Certainly will!! Are you booking something soon? Hope you get the R&R you need. Smile

The spa at The Mandarin Oriental is amazing. Super expensive but absolute luxury

CheersMedea · 18/01/2015 15:36

Not very helpful but avoid the spa at the Holborn Rosewood hotel. When it was the Chancery Court hotel it was amazing but in my opinion, it's really gone down hill since then. The building/layout is the same but the whole service is not as good.

Lyndie · 18/01/2015 21:00

Should also have said its not in London but Pennyhill Park is also ace. GrinGrin

HermioneWeasley · 18/01/2015 21:27

Yes - have been to penny hill park and it was very good (not quite as good as the sanctuary though)

LollyLondon · 19/01/2015 09:03

Definitely the Mandarin Oriental for a super-luxury blow out...

Agua at the Sanderson is also lovely - no pool, but fab individual chill out "pods" for post-treatment bliss.

CheersMedea · 19/01/2015 13:10

If you are looking out of London/nearby, Champneys at Tring is good - but I would avoid the weekend if you have the option to as it is far more relaxing and less busy (more chilled out) during the week.

Just wanted to update that ESPA at The Corinthia was indeed superb! The treatment areas are like nothing I've ever seen before (and I'm a bit of a spa junkie!). Treatment were lovely, felt very pampered after. I was unreasonably excited by all the other 'stuff' like combs, toothbrushes, vanity sets, nail files etc to help yourself to!

Only criticism would be the spa area, pool was small and dark, had jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, ice fountain but other places have had a full sized pool, laconium, herbal room etc and a bit lighter would have been nice! Very minor considering how lovely it was. Smile

The hotel itself was also seriously impressive (and expensive!).

Hope OP booked something!
