Calling all "not very slim at all" people, where do you shop?

I'm not slim at all. Actually I'm a size 26/28 depending on brand. I'm not proud if it, but for now, it's what I am.

Where on earth do big people but clothes that are not either 200% polyester, or hideously garish colours?

I always seem to struggle for decent tops, I'm not massively tall at 5'7", but am quite long in the body. I never seem to be able to find long enough tunic tops to wear over leggings, and if anything has even slight shaping at the waist, it's halfway up my boobs!

Any suggestions for where to look? I'm 44, and whilst I've never been at the leading edge of fashion, even in my slim days, I do like to be relatively up to date, but without being mutton dressed as lamb.

Taking shape is the 'new' store I saw - still haven't been an a trip yet so if anyone has had stuff from them and can give a 'size compares to x store' round up and and an indication of quality for the price, that would be very welcome.

You should check out the plus size fashion blogs (uk ones), they regularly review clothes and will tell you where they are available and what size they go up to. They are also great inspiration for how to work accessories and style clothes in different ways. Just google uk plus size fashion blogs (sometimes known as "fatshion" blogs).

I just did an order from Taking Shape over the weekend - free next day delivery over £50.

They have some nice trousers. Size wise, very true to what the say on the website which is helpful. A bit of polyester pattern drama elsewhere on the site, but I ordered a pair of sandals from the sale too and they are luverly!
