Talk to me about this bra please! Panache Porcelain Plunge

I bought this bra a while ago and the woman in the shop reckoned it fit me fine. I had my doubts but bought it anyway. I've gained some weight and it fits even less well. Sad But I like the idea of it and need to know if it's the style that just doesn't suit my shape or if it's just the size. I know it's too small really. Or if there is something else in a similar style that would suit me better.

What I have at present is a 36GG, and it only goes up to an H and I'm not sure that will be enough as my boobs do spill a lot. The band fits well so I don't want to go up to 38. What I wonder really is this. Do all big women have problems with moulded cups esp in plunge styles? Is it worth trying for the 36H or should I give up on this style, at least till I lose weight? Are any other bras out there that would work better, obviously in the right size? Smile

Moulded bras are the hardest to get a good fit with, as they have no ability to adjust or flex to your shape.

In terms of what would work, what is your breast shape like? Have a look at a few of the recent bra threads to see the sort of thing to look at

I bloody hate that bra and should get rid really. So uncomfortable and I don't really like the shape it gives either. I'm a 32F

Also JL fitter saying all 'her ladies' love them as they give a smooth shape and hide nipples. Are nipples showing a tiny bit really an issue?

Sorry am in a mood this morning and this thread is proving cathartic Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/01/2015 07:40

I found nipples more of an issue when my bra didn't fit well as, well, the seams would rub them and make them more obvious. Never a problem now, even with quite thin bras

TopazRocks · 15/01/2015 13:43

Ach, my nipples are lovely. Why shouldn't the world see them?Grin And anyway, in this climate there are only a few weeks per year when I'm not covered in sweaters etc.

I actually find this bra comfortable - it doesn't dig in the way some do. And I like the smooth shape - it suits for some garments esp. T-shirts. It just isn't as supportive as some others. I'm tending towards not replacing it - at least till I lose some weight - though I might just try one on in the 36H next time I'm in the big smoke and have time to loiter in a Bravissimo.

I think Stat answered my question last night in saying there's a problem over these moulded bras not having 'give'. I have read the other threads and blogs and I'm just not sure how to describe my shape. Apart from big and 'floppy' (after spending 3 years of my life being pregnant and 6 years breast feeding! Shock). Back to the drawing board on bras, I think. Confused

Try to work out...

Are they fuller top or bottom - look at them side on to work this out.

How wide are they ie how far round under your arms does your breast tissue go. This is sometimes easier to work out if you lean forward as the breast tissue will full forwards and you'll be able to feel where it stops more easily.
Hoe far apart are they in the middle -ie do you have a flat bit with no breast tissue and if so how wide is it? Most people do

HeyMacWey · 15/01/2015 14:23

I think plunge style brass only suit those under a c cup - definitely the style.
Try balconette.

I've got a few of these and find they fit well.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/01/2015 14:34

As a j cup who suits plunges I'd have to disagree tbh. it depends on breast shape and in larger cup sizes the variance in the shape of plunges becomes more important. An ewa michalak pl is a totally different shape to a bravissimo satine and will suit very different breast shapes.

TopazRocks · 15/01/2015 15:41

Right then, I've had a dec in the mirror and a poke about! Definitely got wide space between breasts, and tissue under-arm - and I do scoop already! Less sure about top-bottom distribution, it all looks quite full, but probably slightly fuller on top.

Regarding plunges, I have a couple of Tango plunges which fit okay. Just I wanted something smoother and sleeker for a change. Maybe I could try the Satine??? But no idea about sizing. I may need a trip to a shopshop next week .... I HATE shopping though.

The Fantasie link looks good, but the cup sizes don't go beyond G, I see. Sad

Satine might work. It sounds like you have relatively wide roots, wide set, and possibly balanced fullness verging to top heavy. The other plunge which I think might work is bravissimo dixie. Other bras you might get on with would be Cleo marcie -could be a bit narrow but worth trying as it's a good bra if it works -Cleo juna, panache floris and panache envy, Freya might suit you too actually as they're relatively wide and balanced fullness I'd say.

Thanks for your help, Stat. Now off to peruse bra sites. Smile
