spinning class clothing

I did my first spinning class today and I think I need some leggings or something with protective padding. To put it bluntly, my fanjo is sore. Does anyone wear something with padding or will I just toughen up if I keep going?

I think it just depends on the bikes, I used to get very sore at oe gym but the local sports centre bikes don't bother me at all. If the saddle isn't level it can cause problems. I have noticed some women bring a slip over saddle cover with them to ease the situation.

This made me laugh, I have absolute sympathy for you

I call this affliction "bikegina"

You can get padded pants, but to be honest, you'll get used to it. (I don't want to use the words "toughen up" because no one wants a tough old fanny right?)

As a temporary measure, you can put a towel under you. Also make sure that the resistance is up high enough that you're not wobbling around on the bike and suck in your core so the power is coming from your core, legs and bum and not you sitting on the saddle

It does get better I promise!

My DH always complains after a spinning class of a sore barse (the bit between your balls and your arse) and he's been spinning for a long while.

You can buy a gel bike seat cover, that might help. Or a really thick old fashioned sanitary towel - the ones that are like mattresses?

Tanaqui · 14/01/2015 19:24

I wear padded cycling shorts, and some people bring seat covers (gel or fleecy). My "shorts" are below knee length and they look okay!

Amethyst24 · 14/01/2015 20:42

Weirdly I only get this occasionally. Sometimes I'm fine, sometimes I feel like I've had a massive sesh with a male porn star Shock

Try wearing leggings that don't have a seam in the fanjo area, or try a gel seat cover - I'm sure I've heard people say they have found them in Poundland. Or try another couple of classes and see if it gets better.

You can get a gel saddle cover for £5 from sports direct

There's a reason cyclists wear padded cycling shorts. Try a pair.

Can anyone give me a link to the type of thing they wear? When I Google I get Hulk Hogan type onesies.

I'll give it a few more weeks and hopefully the 'bikegina' will improve. We are supposed to be TTC but I don't think I could have anything near me right now.

I'm not sure about the sanitary towel idea, imagine the horror if it works loose and ends up coming down my leg during the class.

I wear my padded bike shorts. Most cyclists do when spinning.
