(It's the Mail, don't click if you don't want to)

I don't know why, but I am finding this hilarious.

HORROR stories, no less

It seems obvious that ordering something from a designer picture rather than what you are actually buying, for a fraction of the price, is not going to end well. The designs to be copied were so complex there was a lot of scope to go wrong. Also some of them were garish monstrosities in the first place.

I actually wore a knock off wedding dress!! Sorry if that offends anyone but it worked for me. I really didn't want to spend. £800-£1000 on a dress. I ordered from a respectable and rated site back then. Did a lot of research in advance. I also ordered a stock dress they could actually picture. It was simple basic strapless a line full skirt. I understood that these sites can't copy lace design exactly or intricate beading etc

I had a local bridal seamstress alter it to fit perfectly but only because I intentionally ordered slightly too long as I figured too short would've a disaster.

She had been a seamstress at a posh shop and recognised the dress. She didn't believe it wasn't just an original. The designer manufactured in China so it was probably very easy to copy exactly. It was the same fabric as the original.

It cost me £170 when the same dresses went for £900. I think I spent £50 on alterations. I actually ordered it thinking if I hated it Id just sink the cost and go for a monsoon bridal dress instead. Returns to china not being reliable and postage being extortion etc.

Some of my 'friends' were quite rude about it to my face. As in they disapproved. I looks good on the day and gave me more money to spend elsewhere in the wedding budget.

Some of them are truly terrible and nothing like the originals but others are as much a case of how that style looks on an average body as opposed to a tall, willowy model. The 'frumpy' fishtail one is an example of that.

Agreed they're very funny. Bit like those pintrest "nailed its"
Are they real? Or just daily fail set-ups? I can't believe someone would really try and get a cheap knock-off of the Vivienne Westwood from satc.

I am shuddering/laughing at the green one.

I had one of these knock off dresses when i got married a few years ago, I paid £150. I was really really pleased with it. I had it altered a bit by a friend for free and it was stunning. Lovely lace and beading and friend said it was well made.

I did order it well in advance in case it was like the daily mail pictures. I just felt it was wrong to spend such a huge amount of money on something that i would wear for a few hrs. We had great food, booze, music and dancing instead and a 6 week honeymoon!!

Wedding frocks are a ridiculous price

Thanks for this OP, very funny! The third one down made me gasp.

I think it's the fact that they're all so hideous to start with that's making me hoot. The "golden mermaid"!

I actually thought that the Sex and the City one wasn't too bad bearing in mind it would have been done from that picture alone with no idea about the corsetry etc. The short lace one is just on back to front, isn't it?

Also, yes, I think some of these brides need to realise you don't get the model's body thrown in as a BOGOF.

Some of them just need the proper hooped underskirts and they wouldn't look too bad, but the worst ones were frankly hideous to begin with, so I'm not sure why they are surprised.
