Complete skin novice...what should I use?

I have never put anything on my skin other than moisturiser but have started to notice more blemishes/dullness etc. and feel like I need to take a little more care over its appearance.

What the heck do I put on it? Just foundation? BB cream? How do I know which one to get? There seem to be so many products available and I really can't afford to waste money making the wrong choice.

Sorry for the completely thick questions.

What sort of skin do you have, and what age range are you?

Hiya

There are so many different products out there it's hard to know what to choose! If you've never used anything at all before it's probably worth going on Youtube and watching a few beauty tutorials. You can search for things like 'foundation tutorial' and vloggers not only recommend products but show you how to use them well. Once you've got an idea of what you want to do you just need to get stuck in and experiment. Good luckSmile

I'm 32 and have no idea what sort of skin I have! Is 'normal skin' a proper answer? Never had any problems with spots or super-sunsitivity or anything...

I would keep it fairly simple for now, and add other stuff gradually. Superdrug Vit E hot cloth cleanser is very popular on here. Gets your face really clean and exfoliates a bit also.

I have 'dabbled' with using serums in between cleanser and moisturiser, but doesn't seem to make much difference for me. Some people think that if your moisturiser is adequate, you wouldn't need it.

I recommend checking out Bobbi Brown foundation, as they have the best range of colours.

Try a water based foundation on your jawline in three colours, then go outside into daylight and check which one blends in the best.

The assistant should be happy to help you do this.

If you don't like the amount of coverage, or find it drying, they should be happy to let you exchange it.

OP if you've got to 32 and never used anything on it you must have lovely skin! Maybe start out with a tinted moisturiser if you don't need much coverage, it should just make everything look a bit smoother without being too heavy or cakey.

Having re-read, I realise you are talking mainly about make-up. Exfoliation would help your skin to look a little brighter however.
