Supportive casual shoes for work

fooolofbeans · 11/01/2015 19:37

I do a lot of walking each day at work going from the office to various other sites and probably cover 6 miles a day.
after 2 days of wearing cheap shoes i could feel the tendons at the bottom of my foot and chilled beginning to ache
I can wear trainers and have been wearing Nike frees but they're looking a bit worse for wear and would ideally like to look a little less sporty, but ultimately foot health is my priority.

any suggestions?
I like vans but have never had any and assume they'd not be very supportive
would a fitted shoe like a pair of clarkes brogues be supportive?

All ideas welcome!!! Thanks in advance :)

Hotter
I swear by them. I have arthritis and a slipped disc. I couldn't manage without them.

DidoTheDodo · 11/01/2015 20:35

I have recently bought a pair of Moshulu boots and they are the most comfortable footwear I've ever owned. I walk about 3.5 miles a day on my commute to work and they have been blissful from day one. Usually I have to break shoes in gently.

didothedodo these are lovely www.moshulu.co.uk/ladies/shoes/darjeeling_black.htm but do worry about the impracticalness of suede...

I wear Clark's brogues, can walk several miles no prob.

fooolofbeans · 11/01/2015 21:35

yonicsleighdriver i have had merrell in the past but more as actually walking shoes, these are nice www.merrell.com/UK/en-GB/Product.mvc.aspx/31544W/76839/Womens/Barefoot-Life-Zest-Glove?dimensions=0 but for some reason i can only get away with barefoot style shoes when running not walking Sad

Skechers GoWalk are probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. No rubbing and go in washer. I plan to get coloured ones for the summer but won't be able to wear them to work when I don't have excuse of pregnancy.

fooolofbeans · 11/01/2015 21:40

ah thanks gallicgirl should maybe think practicality and keep the clarks for the weekend Smile

CuttedUpPear · 11/01/2015 23:59

Also look at Rieker - they are specialists in supportive footwear and I've been in their boots 2 winters straight now, so comfortable.

here

But also worth looking on Amazon/ebay for sale items
