HoC - bright spring HELLPPP!

I just had a HoC consultation and was diagnosed a bright spring. I am terrified. I own nothing but black and sludgy greens/dusty pinks. I was nearly crying in town trying to find the right colours. Can anybody help me out with advice or examples of stuff in this quartile? I'd like to buy a couple of tops and a scarf to start me off. Honestly, the whole thing has wigged me out a bit.

Hmm, I really appreciate your skepticism, because yes, it can all feel a bit 'Bridget Jones' mum' (still find that bit amusing). I have definitely retreated from the 'holy shit I must discard entire wardrobe and henceforth only wear cobalt blue' feeling. However, I did see the effect that the 'right' colours had on the two women with me. It was really exceptional.

On a few days reflection, I think that it will be useful for exactly what I wanted it for. Am I going to start looking like an eighties children's television presenter in emerald and turquoise with bright red lipstick all day? Highly unlikely, it's just not me. But that's not what I wanted. What I wanted was the confidence to start adding a lot more colour to my wardrobe, and hopefully this will give me a nudge in the right direction. In fact I just used the useful timing of the sales to buy some really nice bright stuff. We'll see how it goes.

mil 'your natural instincts are telling you it's a load of old guff' made me laugh, I want you beside me when the world is taken over by cults.

Thanks for all your replies people.

So I have worn a new violet cardigan to work today, one of my double star colours (diagnosed in November, so a recent spring convert). 5 people said I was looking really well/ radiant/ happy, and another asked me if I had been on holiday Grin

I think French navy (which is lighter and bluer than ordinary navy) is the neutral colour you need as a Spring

Well done 321zerobaby! Still scared of violet.

I got some really nice sale brights (coral/pink/orange) in John Lewis sale and topped up with some dove grey/navy/bright green basic scoop tops from Primarni. Am suddenly obsessed with colour, it's like turning on a tap! Thank God for the sales.

Yup - I hate violet/purple! And wearing too many bright colours. I like that kettlewell blog though - much easier way to wear colour for most people. Can't stand the cbeebies look personally...Wink

I really like the violet but is hard to come by.

321zerobaby · 14/01/2015 22:39

I love violet, and hate tan and beige! Good job there's plenty of others to choose from. Oh and apple green, one of my favs! Not convinced about banana, but its another double star for me.

the Kettlewell blog was good. i like the look of their sites, my dm orders from there but the sizing looks rubbish.
i.e 8-10 then 12. need a proper 10.
