Interview! Yikes.....

I have an interview next week for some teaching work. It's an agency, not a specific school, but I'm out of the "formal" style loop now. What the jeff do I wear?

I'm 55 Shock, size 12, quite funky. The only thing I really can't get on with is court shoes, or flats. Too dumpy for that.

Ideas, o wise ones?

Having run lots of interviews, it always irks me somewhat if people don't bother to wear a jacket/blazer. I can't be doing with people who turn up for an interview wearing a ditsy dress and a cardi. So I would say, work with what you've already got in your wardrobe (you say your style is funky, do you have a dress that you love wearing?) and pop a smart blazer over the top. Pair of opaque tights and maybe some clean, smart ankle boots and you're good to go.

Thanks Frankie. I agree with the dress/ cardu combo. I don't really "do" dresses, and in the past I've gone in for trouser suits in a big way (used to have a fairly "corporate" job. Most teachers I sed are actually quite scruffy imo-leggings, cardis and tops. Or the ubiquitous trousers and semi-smart top (no blazer).

I think I'm trying to strike a happy medium between corporate, smart, approachable, professional and stylish, and finding it hard having lost both waist and self-respect.
