... how do you maintain it? Can you just keep redoing it every time you take the nail varnish off until it sort of grows out? Does it actually work?

I use toilet roll or kitchen roll (separated into 1 layer) and clear varnish.
It just grows until it's LNG enough to cut off and file, you can top up the clear varnish f you need to

Thanks. I used kitchen roll instead and it seems fine so far Smile

just looked this up- what a faff, just file your nail down

Nabootique · 05/01/2015 20:17

It was my index finger so would have looked really odd, and it was right down at the quick, so didn't want to do all nails the same length. Only took a minute to fix.

I have long nails and I've tried to do that before but I think it looks worse than a short nail. No matter how neat it is, it still looks bumpy.

never heard of this - sounds cool, must check it out!

Hoppinggreen · 05/01/2015 20:46

I only do it if the nail has broken far enough down to actually be painful.
I'm not too bothered about a short nail

I've just searched for this tip in the hope of hearing success stories. I've just broken my big toe nail more than halfway down!!!! It's hanging on by a thread and I've just done a bit of tea bag diy on it. Please oh please let it work, I don't want to loose my toenail!!

If you use a little spot of Superglue to secure your teabag/tissue it will resist nail varnish remover. Dries good and hard too.

It usually lasts just long enough to grow a critical mm or two.
