What is the perfect foundation for 40+ skin?

I'm on the lookout for the perfect foundation.
I'm 40+ with a combination skin that is quite dehydrated around the cheeks and eyes.
I want a foundation and concealer that gives me a polished look. I don't want to look caked in makeup, just a natural gorgeous glow. Plus, something that'll last
I'm not sure if powders work as they make my skin feel very dry.

Any suggestions gratefully received Smile

Hope you find one miss
I know exactly the 'look' I'm after, flawless with a the lit from within cliché glowGrin
DD1 works in the cosmetic industry and I'm lucky to try samples and get a few freebies.
I looked at the double wear powder as recommended above .
Will need to visit a counter though I think!

I'm late 30s and have similar skin type. I've been using Stila Stay All Day Foundation for the past year (comes with a little concealer in the top and a mini foundation brush) and really like it. Great polished but natural finish. It doesn't last all day, but NOTHING does on my skin.

Its around £28, but have picked some up half price online the other week. Can't remember the site, but can look it up if you'd like.

The best foundation I've found is Dior. All Chanel comes up slightly yellowy even in the palest shades.

Clinque, Clarins and Lancôme are ok but not as good as Dior.

I think the key with makeup in your 40s is to maintain your skin. To wear foundation it needs to be slightly more moisturised because foundation catches on any dry bits. I also think a primer is essential it makes the foundation go on more smoothly.
