Are ripped jeans a thing again now?

I've been into town a couple of times this week and I've suddenly noticed loads of girls with ripped jeans on. They just seem to have straight slashes from seam to seam across both knees. Mostly worn by late teens to twenties but I also saw several women wearing them who were definitely old enough to have worn them the last time around (and maybe the time before that!)

Nothing against slashed-knee jeans, wouldn't wear 'em myself - don't really have the right kind of knees for them Wink
Mildly pissed off that Topshop 'Jamie' jeans - which are the only ones that fit me well enough to repeat purchase without trying on - seem this season to have been designated as the style to have all it's knees ripped!

(Mine have worn down & frayed at the point where my upper thighs rub together - I do lots of walking - which I suspect is not a terribly fashionable point to distress.)

Am currently stalking ebay for last season's seconds - its either that or darn the wretched knees up, & that really would be a bit sad.

Oh, I hate the rip trend. If you are young-ish it can look OK, but on the over-40s it just makes you look like a slob.

I also can't get my head around paying good money for something already falling apart (I know, I know, that makes me sound like my granny).

DD1 (13) tried on some of the TopShop Joni jeans with the rips across the knee, but hated the feel and the draughts up her legs. She's swerving the rip trend for now.

I saw someone with leggings ripped seam to seam on the knees yesterday!
