Hi there, I too have been into specsavers today. Compared to Boots and Vision express they have proved cheaper for me, I have a very strong prescription and 2 pairs of 'designer' style glasses with my special ultra thinned lenses have cost me £245. That is only about £20 more than the last single pair I got from VE.
I went for rimless last time but hated them, have decided I like the 'glasses are definitely there' look. I'm blonde, medium length and style is jeans and jacket with heels type style. Think your best way forward is to decide if you want to look as if your glasses are making a statement or if you want them to blend in iyswim!!

I've just bought a rimless pair from Specsavers. I paid extra for the extra thin lenses and also got a pair of sunglasses at no extra cost. The cost was £165 for the glasses plus about £40 for the extra thin lenses.

I found Specsavers very good and they brought out several different pairs for me to try until I found the right ones.

They were ready in about 2 weeks

Just a thought, the specsavers I went into today had one of those cameras that you can take a photo of yourself in the different glasses and compare the images. Really helps if you're as short sighted as me and really can't tell how you look!

I would go for something bold with your colouring - you sound very similar in style to me, and I have dark brown chunky frames. Rimless look horrible on me. Some wire frames look okay, but only dark-coloured ones.

You need to go back to the optician with a friend whose judgement you trust, and try on lots and lots of pairs! It's the only way to figure out what suits you best.

I always used to go to an independent optician, but I got my last pair of glasses in David Clulow - they were very good. I once got a pair of sunglasses in Specsavers which were fine. Probably best to get a recommendation from a friend in your area - ask anyone you know who wears glasses where they got them from.
