58 with very sensitive skin.

AM
Splash with water
Wheatgerm or coconut oil
Ultrasun sunscreen for sensitive skin, SPF30

PM
Cleanse with almond oil and hot facecloth
Wheatgerm or coconut oil
Once or twice a week I put a cream on too, normally Dr Organic virgin olive oil cream or Neal's Yard Frankinsence or Nivea in a blue pot. Any more than that and I risk a flare up.

WildBillfemale · 04/01/2015 12:57

velourvoyageur · 04/01/2015 13:05

Morning- dermaflannel in the shower, then cold water and Avène XeraCalm wash, then Ultrasun face factor 50

Evening- Avène XeraCalm then that La Roche Posay duo thing, just recently. Which may or may not be working. All I know is that I suddenly have spots on my chin Angry
Before that I covered my face in Aveeno. I just need to find a nice mild facial moisturiser, thinking of Avène cold cream, which will make me feel like I'm in the 1940s house, but oh well.

My skin is super super sensitive, it's just horrible, so I try not to use too many products.

thisissohard · 04/01/2015 13:05

Oooh, I love these threads too:-

Aged 38, oily skin, prone to dehydration and sensitivity

AM- Aldi moisturising face wash
Vichy aqualia serum, then Nivea hydrating primer for combination skin

PM- HCC with Nspa hot cloth cleanser (though I prefer a balm so going to get one when this runs out
Clarins exfoliating brightening toner
Avene Cleanance treatment on chin and nose, if a bit spotty
Clarins Blue Orchid Oil
Elemis hydrating night cream, if I feel like my skin needs it

Skin reacts to shea butter, so have to avoid quite a lot of products, which is annoying!

Floisme · 04/01/2015 13:08

Mine's the same, velourvoyageur - the more products I use, the worse it is. It's why I use oil rather than moisturiser most of the time

HidingBehindANewNickname · 04/01/2015 13:13

AM
Soap and water in shower
Simple face wipe to remove any left over make up bits round eyes.
Oil of Olay/L'oreal (whatever on offer) Sensitive Day cream with SPF15

PM.
Go to bed.

I have super sensitive skin so lots of things just sting. And at bed time I am lazy.

BlueEyedWonder · 04/01/2015 13:17

SuperFlyHigh · 04/01/2015 16:46

Combination/dry skin

Morning - cleanser (yes to cucumbers a fave), at weekends scrub (botanics) and during week face mask, can be Montagne jeunesse or mud mask. Then moisturiser right now finishing off burts bees or Nivea hydrating one and always SPF 30 or 50 (nuxe or soap and glory).

Evening - sometimes Nivea face wipes or clarins orange cleanser or micellar water (garnier or botanics). I don't use moisturiser every night but again botanics is nice or something not rich. Serums Kiehls midnight one or Neals yard rose oil I sometimes use them by themselves or with moisturiser.

I'd like to use serums, AHAs etc but unsure as to which (got samples).

My skin is unlined, fairly plump and in good nick for 43 but great genes help and also stay out of sun and a good diet generally! What I say is do whatever suits you, it certainly doesn't kill my skin not to moisturise a lot every night.

SuperFlyHigh · 04/01/2015 16:46

Oh and prefer to use simple eye makeup remover!

Mintyy · 04/01/2015 16:49

52
Rinse face with warm water in the shower in the morning, apply Body Shop Aloe Vera day moisturiser. Apply sunscreen in the summer.

If I've been wearing makeup (rarely), I'll wash with mild soap like Dove and use Body Shop cammomile eyemakeup remover.

SuperFlyHigh · 04/01/2015 16:52

For those of you berating a bad or non existent skin care routine. My mum for years only washed I think with soap and water, never a mask or exfoliator, Nivea Creme morning and night. Now she's using proper night cream and day cream with SPF but she always used SPF in sun, she did have oily skin but both her and my nana have/had skin 10-15 years younger than their age (Nana stayed out of sun, ponds cold cream etc).

velourvoyageur · 06/01/2015 11:16

^ good point Superfly (nice name!), but having lots of complicated scientific lotions and potions is so much fun :)

So- people who use lots of different things, do you use different things on different parts of your face? I have a porey area then a dry one then now a spotty one (slathering that in Eucerin dermopurifier, which seems totally ineffectual)...
If you say apply salicylic acid to one part and then cream to a dry part and so on, is that how you're supposed to deal with combination skin?

velourvoyageur · 06/01/2015 11:18

Floisme I'm quite curious about using oil- I was dabbing on some of my mum's anti ageing Lovea stuff over Christmas and I suppose it felt quite nice....do you find it's so much better than just white cream/lotion?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 06/01/2015 11:20

AM - nothing
PM - wash in the shower with water

Im 29 and wrinkle and dry skin free.

Carpaccio · 06/01/2015 12:28

31, oily acne-prone, dehydrated skin.

Morning:
Clarisonic with Shiseido Ibuki gentle cleanser
Pixi Glow Tonic (I sometimes skip this and use in the evening instead)
Aesop Parsley Seed Serum

Sometimes I'll use Shiseido Ibuki Softening Concentrate and Refining Moisturiser instead or on top of the Aesop serum - depends on my skin.

My skin can get really dry and painful in winter as I'm outside a lot, so I sometimes also use Embryolisse on top of the Aesop serum or alone.

Evening:
Clinique Take the Day off or the Body Shop camomile cleansing butter
Pixi Glow Tonic (only if I didn't use in the morning)
If I have any spots, I use Avene Triacneal on them.
Indeed labs Retinol.

EmGee · 06/01/2015 13:35

I have learnt ( the hard and expensive way) that my mum was right when she told me many years ago that the secret to good skin is 'less is more'.

During my 20s I used just about everything going, had facials and bought tons of (expensive) products.

Since arrival of kids (late 30s), cannot be bothered and as I am a SAHM at the mo, I rarely wear makeup. Rarely wash face at night but rinse in the morning. I do own a VisaPure brush which I use once a week with a cream cleanser (Body Shop, or La Roche Posay).

Moisturiser is Avene anti-redness for combination skin. It is fab.

My skin looks great - in fact easily better than it did ten years ago. No spots or wrinkles. I am 43 and still suffering from interrupted nights with little kids

Nabootique · 06/01/2015 14:04

AM:
Boots Botanics Calming Cleansing Cream or Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser (off with a hot flannel)
Nip+Fab Glycolic pads or Pixiglow
Dirty Works or Superdrug Naturally Radiant Eye Cream
Sometimes Bodyshop Vit C Spray or Boots Botanics Brightening Tonic
Boots Botanics Facial Oil
Dirty Works 8 in 1 Miracle Cream

PM:
Boots Botanics Cleansing Balm, then Bodyshop Seaweed Cleansing Lotion (hot flannel, double cleanse)
Then as above, sometimes with Indeed Labs Pepta-bright as a serum after the oil, and sometimes Hydraluron before moisturiser. Also user Liquid Gold twice a week with nothing after it (post cleanse).

maybemyrtle · 06/01/2015 15:16

38, sensitive but otherwise normal skin (finally!) and a big believer in less is more. Occasional hormonal breakouts.

AM: Una Brennan neroli facewash, either Neals Yard Frankincense Nourishing or Balance Me Moisture Rich face cream

PM: Bioderma micellar, Una Brennan neroli facewash, then Jurlique Purely Bright night cream.

As and when needed: Dr Hauschka eye balm, clay mask (currently Caudalie), Salcura Antiac spray.

Not sure why/how I still have storage units full of products...

catbus · 06/01/2015 15:26
  1. Skin normal ish with a few lines here and there. Probably from smiling.

AM- Pick crusts of sleep out of eyes and chuck water on face. Dry and slap on a bit of Nivea.

PM- Chuck water on face. Dry and fall into bed. If remember, slap a bit of a nice Neal's Yard frankincense cream that was a Christmas gift, sparingly onto chops.

I really need my own beauty column Confused

Floisme · 07/01/2015 07:02

velourvoyageur - ordinary oil works much better for me. My skin never flares up when I use it and I find it moisturises just as effectively as any cream or facial oil I've tried. Plus it's cheapy cheap so I have more money left for clothes!

hiphapnap · 05/02/2015 18:57

Great thread, Carpaccio's routine looks great! I just a did a printable Anti Ageing Skincare Routine post inspired by the lovely Caroline Hirons over at my blog. looks like the Pixi Glow Tonic is going down a storm xx

What is your skincare routine?
avagosling · 06/02/2015 15:10

Morning is a splash of water and a drop of camellia oil.
Evening I do the oil cleansing method and moisturise with rosehip oil.
Converted to oils as you can see!

Izzy24 · 06/02/2015 15:18

Oh dear, all I use for cleansing are face wipes( Waitrose ) morning and night and then a smear of whichever of the many moisturisers I have bought, but failed to incorporate into a regime, is lying around.

Are facial wipes very bad for the skin?
