New Years Eve House Party - should I wear shoes?

Going to a house party tomorrow night. They don't have a shoes off house (although I do), but there will be lots of children there early on.

Is it best to just remove my shoes when I arrive, ( which is what I would prefer) and if so is stockinged feet ok?

If they are a shoes on household and everyone else will have theirs on I would keep mine on too. Though we dont tend to do LBD and family diamonds type parties in my circle, it's more of a come as you are type deal, so socks or bare feet don't look weird.

Hahaha @ talkin. Yeah, we're bastards.

thornrose · 30/12/2014 18:29

I think if you have a no shoes home then you probably shouldn't have parties!

MarshaBrady · 30/12/2014 18:30

Keep the shoes on

ElizabethHoover · 30/12/2014 18:34

how weird ot have a floor you cant actually walk on - or welcome people into!

Pantone363 · 30/12/2014 18:37

Wear clean shoes - don't remove

We only allow people to party in the east wing.

I bought lovely sparkly shoes to go with my Primani sequinned jumper for a party a couple of weeks ago. Sooooo glad it wasn't a take your shoes off place. I had even taken a taxi to go over there so wasn't on the Tube with them.

Why would you have a floor that is ruined by wearing shoes on it? What a pita it must be. I like the idea of keeping the party to just one wing though, I must do that next year.

I hate putting together an outfit with matching footwear and then having to take that off. Also I feel silly sitting around in my socks. If you are a shoes off house why can't you make an exception for one night.

Having said that we are not a shoes off house, and recently had a gathering and everyone took their shoes off. I kept saying to people arriving that they really didn't need to do that but for some reason they all kept on doing it. I had my shoes on all evening!

I think the OP should keep her shoes on, but wear something suitable like some light slip ons rather than big boots.
