Eye liner recommendations for an amateur please.

I'm fairly new to the world of eyeliner (34 but as i've always found it tricky i just don't bother even trying). That was until a few weeks ago and the girl at the benefit counter practically pinned me down and "did" my eyes.

They looked amazing so I bought the eyeliner and was planning to go back for the mascara tomorrow, so I dug out the eyeliner today and tried it, took me 3 goes to get them straight but i managed and looked ok, at dinnertime though i walked past the mirror and saw massive panda eyes so obviously the eyeliner had worn off and looked a mess, its been flaking off ever since. Think it was the theyre real one.

I do like the look of my eyes with eyeliner on, just not this one so any other good ones about. thanks

I have a couple of recommendations : Barry M do a really good liquid eyeliner in a tall pointy tube - it paints on with a nice thin brush and has a lovely texture. And it is cheap!

Another one which is brilliant for beginners is by Bourjois - it's a pen with three tiny nibs all in a line. You just dab it onto the lashline and the little dots join up to make a continuous line. You don't need a steady hand. I can't remember what it's called, but it is stocked in Superdrug (as is Barry M).

Ooh thank you, the bourjois one sounds good for me as im so crap getting a straight line so will look at that. I think I have a very wonky lashline though anyway so getting it straight is harder

The wee ink pot eye liner that benefit do is fantastic. Magic ink or something? It's about £16 but lasts forever. I've bought cheaper versions in the past that have all been shit.

Bourjois Intuitive Liner I have my eye on this too (ha ha!). I have this Maybelline one which comes with a brush. I need more practice though but a make up artist recommended this as a cheap way to learn before buying a pricier one.

bobbi brown gel eyeliner and a good brush are all you need!

go to one of their counters for a demo and advice on how to apply if you need it. I find that some colours have better staying power than others, the ones with glitter in tend to flake off more.

estee lauder gel eyeliners are good too and come in lovely jewel colours.
