Husband has bought used louboutins

I know this may sound ungrateful but my husband has bought me a pair of second hand louboutin shoes for Christmas. They are very used, not in original box and the red sole has pretty much worn off! He is very pleased with his eBay bargain and I have faked joy at them, but the thought of wearing someone else's shoes is making me feel slightly sick. I don't want to appear ungrateful but part of me wants him to know I'm not really happy with second hand shoes for Christmas. I'm also a bit embarrassed to show the family when they come around. What would you do?!!

I must say I do very much like the new word your phone has coined there, Fanfeckin, "arserious." I think I will continue to use it. Grin

The OP is being very sensible. A lot of other people are overthinking this.

LTB.

butterflymacqueen · 25/12/2014 17:30

OP Bless him! Perhaps that's all he acould afford. Is a bit skint?

butterflymacqueen · 25/12/2014 17:32

I do sell genuine ones- not fakes- but from past collections (in case anyone is interested).

LuluJakey1 · 25/12/2014 17:34

He probably can't return them can he?

Teeb · 25/12/2014 17:37

He could return them if they aren't as described, which they may well not be. But if they were sold as well worn shoes then it's trickier, although eBay/paypal will always side with the buyer so even then he could get a refund.

Twinklebells · 25/12/2014 17:43

yes he can return them - as long as he isn't out of time. How long ago did he buy them?

LuluJakey1 · 25/12/2014 18:15

I hope you are within time. Even used designer shoes go for a lot of money on Ebay sometimes.

AmberNectarine · 25/12/2014 19:17

If they're not hugely scuffed/misshapen and it's just the soles that are bothering you, you can do what I do and buy red rubber soles from EBay which you can then get a cobbler to put on the bottom. As previous poster has said the red is just painted on and comes off very easily so that is my solution for my pairs.

foolssilver · 26/12/2014 12:15

Butterfly can you pm me details please?

Op, I think you have done the right thing. No point pretending to love them. If they weren't as described he may be able to claim from eBay.

candykane25 · 27/12/2014 21:49

I would recondition them and then call them "vintage". Very hard to find and sought after design, difficult to track down. Then people will think your husband is a genius.
But I would have been a bit ? at unwrapping used shoes. The first ever Christmas present I ever got from my DH was tea towels. I still tease him about it.

VenusRising · 27/12/2014 22:59

Sometimes ebay pictures and descriptions can be misleading.
I think the thought was good and intention was nice, to give you a present of something that new is very expensive.
However I would never wear secondhand (pardon the pun) shoes, as a lot of people have fungal infections veruccas etc and having to wear them with bare feet increases the risk of picking up something nasty. Not to mention that everyone's feet are so different, you can really damage your foot wearing a shoe broken in by another foot.

The intention to buy you a nice present was good, and I don't think your DH should be given out to for it- ebay pics can be misleading.

Learn and move on.

judydoes · 27/12/2014 23:38

I hope they aren't sold as 'well worn' as this is sometimes code for 'for foot fetishists!' on eBay.

FWIW to my standards, even 'worn' louboutins are £££.

It's a mistake, you've told him he got it wrong. Depending on the seller and condition you may be able to return or sell on. Hope all's good now :)

Eliza22 · 28/12/2014 10:56

There are many many used items that one can get away with. Shoes (generally) aren't one of them. Especially well worn ones. He tried. He got it massively wrong. Explain it gently to him or he might do it again, next year.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 28/12/2014 18:02

Ooh butterfly can you pm message me about the shoes please!

lemisscared · 28/12/2014 18:09

bit of a first world problem really. although i wouldn't wear second hand shoes and all my clothes are second hand.

burnishedsilver · 28/12/2014 18:40

I don't know what he was thinking.

LeoandBoosmum · 28/12/2014 18:47

This sounds awful but I would have assumed it was a joke and I'd be 'Right, joke over, where's my REAL pressie?'
If he honestly thought he was doing well then gently explain and point him in the right direction next Christmas? He got it wrong but may have had good intentions. Education is key here. Grin
