Anyone created a new you?

Postcardsfromtheedge · 25/12/2014 08:11

I recently saw someone I had not seen for over a year. I could not believe the transformation. She looked amazing... lost weight, new hairstyle and different clothes... has made me wonder as I would like to do this after such a rubbish year where my self confidence is zero..

How did you/would you create a new you?

I would need to lose weight, change clothes style, have fillers...

I like The Shred.
Not easy but only 25 ish min so perfect to slot into your day.
Also I love a walk,I live fairly rurally or at least on edge of countryside so I love to go out for an hour as often as I can.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 27/12/2014 00:26

I like the shred too, found it very good when I started. Try to do bodyweight exercises where possible.(shred is good for those)

Just to say, 3.5 stone sounds like a lot in 6 months, I had to make complete lifestyle changes to keep the weight off and I'm not sure I would have maintained that kind of loss. No trying to be negative, hopefully realistic!

WhirlyTwirlySnowflakes · 27/12/2014 00:50

I went from a 20 to a size 8 a number if years ago.

I looked so different I didn't always recognise myself when passing myself in shop mirrors.

I'm currently a size 12 so it's time to do a bit if work to get back into the lovely summer dresses which don't currently fit.

I didn't feel any 'happier' thinner (I've always been a very positive and confident person) but it makes clothes shopping so much easier and I was also quite surprised by the change in other attitudes towards me. I also found that little niggles like back pain and sore knees disappeared despite the massive increase in exercise. It was great to have a nice healthy glow about me too.

JemimaMuddledUp · 27/12/2014 07:25

My face suffered at my lowest weight. I went from 15st to 8st 12 and at my lowest I looked tired and drawn. Body looked fab but not my face. Ideal weight for me is around 10-11 stone.

BlueEyedWonder · 27/12/2014 07:49

2011 was an horrendous year for me and I initially lost some Weight through stress rather than a concious desire to change how I looked. I then took up running and cycling as a natural alternative to anti depressants and that's when the transformation really started to kick in:
My confidence and self esteem began to increase, I started eating less and made healthier choices and I got lots of positive comments from friends and colleagues.

I keep my hair in a neat chic bob which I have coloured a natural blonde shade.
I wear clothes that fit me well and I feel comfortable in. I'm very understated generally and now have the confidence to dress this way even if I'm with others that are dressed up to the nines.
I ran 5 half marathons in under 12 months which I'm super proud of.
If I can do it from the point I was at, anyone can!

postcardsfromtheedge im intending to reinvent myself next year, we've had a dreadful year this year and as a result aged about ten.

GeorginaWorsley · 27/12/2014 09:08

I'm now about 8 stone 3 and I think any lower and my face will suffer!

BlueEyedWonder · 27/12/2014 18:47

At my lowest I weighed 7 stone (am only 5ft) and yes my face suffered. I'm now 7 stone 5 which suits my face better!

Pregnantagain7 · 27/12/2014 20:20

I started to sort myself out at the start of November. I've just had two babies practically back to back (eldest was 14 weeks when I found out I was pregnant again) I've now decided that our family is complete and I'm concentrating on getting myself where I want to be. I have lost 1 stone 3lb already and plan to lose 3 stone more. I will do it as I've done it before and I can't wait to be back in my size 10s! I'm getting my teeth whitened in the new year and will get some Botox when I reach my target weight I'm putting some money away each month to have a spending spree when I hit my target weight :)

Chimichangaz · 27/12/2014 20:34

yes I did, a little bit by accident. Got divorced in 2012, lost 15lb that summer at diet club. had 7 weeks off work with stress in the winter, during which time I was pursued by a much younger man (23 to my 47). Had a one night stand with him which fucked with my head but also made me much more conscious of what a frump I was and I started paying more attention to my looks. I then had a godawful case of flu which meant I lost another half stone or so (so down from original weight of 10st10 to 9st now). I did actually go down to 8st7 but looked far too thin.. I am happy with my weight and have changed my life significantly (more exercise, dress more fashionably) and would never go back to how I was. People I haven't seen since I was heavier have been open-mouthed at the change in me - I personally couldn't see that much at first although I can now.

I would never go back to my previous weight and lifestyle, although there have been some unintended consequences (loose skin mainly, and a flatter bum :-( ). It has been life-changing for me, given me much more confidence so go for it!

Octopus37 · 27/12/2014 20:50

I'm going to be 40 soon and I feel a bit too heavy, want to lose 10 pounds to get down to 8st, but aim to do this by mindful eating rather than a strict diet. Also want to get my hair dyed professionally (currently dye it purple myself), need to find a decent foundation and should start doing my nails. O also want to buy myself a couple of new bodycon dresses and some new jeans, but will wait until I've lost a bit of weight. I look after my skin reasonably well (although sporadically), but could do with drinking more water and exercising more.

Karbea · 29/12/2014 22:15

Spoke to my beautician today she's waiting to hear back from the dr. Who does the botox re dates.

Karbea · 31/12/2014 14:51

Botox booked for Monday afternoon.
Need to sort out my vitamins to start taking tmr.

andsmileimontherightpath · 31/12/2014 16:17

Very interesting thread - I have changed a lot in myself n the inside. Ive grown a bit of self esteem and learned how not to care so much about what others think. I've dabbled with a few improvements since I had DD.

Inspired by the 'growing grey' thread I'v decided to grow my dyed hair out and get a shorter cut. Until I have my 'blank canvas'. Ive already started a slow weight loss journey and have a personal trainer. I can feel the benefits from all the training but need to press on with diet. I have 3 stone to lose. I haven't been target weight since I was very young.

In the past I have used clothes to make me feel better as an 'amour' (bit of a back story). I was aware what I was doing but I loved buying all the stuff and still get compliments when I wear certain items.

Im wondering - those who have transformed - Did the new you on the inside choose the clothes or did you become the clothes? Im just interested in the idea of wearing our identities.

My currently survey look can range from frumpy to boho to well healed (the latters is once in blue moon) I never have the perfect storm of hair/make-up/clothes AND nails! The latter is normally quite lacking!.

Those of you who've lost loads of weight calorie counting - how many calories did you have a day?

Purplehonesty · 31/12/2014 16:41

I need to do this. I'm 34 and because I work from home and have two children (who like to wake me up a lot) I tend to be in jeans everyday.
I've recently had my long hair cut to shoulder length and regret it as now I feel like I have no hairstyle.
I would love to learn how to do makeup properly and hair and buy some stylish clothes. I don't have the budget for it tho!

Karbea · 05/01/2015 15:33

Botox done!
Waiting for the HOC lady to get back to me.
I've been eating mostly better. Not too much other progress...
How about you all?

bunsnroses1 · 05/01/2015 17:23

I'd love to hear more about your botox experience Karbea - did it hurt? What results do they expect you'll see?

Karbea · 05/01/2015 17:34

Hello,

No it didn't hurt, the worst bit is you hear you skin pop as the needle goes in, and that's a bit odd. I'd also had watercress for lunch stupidly and it thins your blood so I bled a bit more than normal. I had it around my eyes and forehead.

Karbea · 08/01/2015 16:23

Hello,
hoc session booked for next Tuesday and highlight consultation booked with a hairdresser for tomorrow.
How's everyone else doing?

Karbea · 11/01/2015 19:55

Consultation went really well, the hairdresser totally got what my issues were, so highlights booked in for next Friday!
