<sob> Hairdresser has dyed my hair a funny colour and I look awful

So I went to my usual hairdresser to have my highlights touched up. I usually have two or three colours, fine strands. Kind of delicate and classy.

She was very busy and persuaded me just to have a load of bright blonde highlights in there in one colour.

I now look like a Russian prostitute who has seen a ghost. It doesn't look nice at all and not only is it Christmas but I am off on holiday in a couple of days to a good hotel. At the moment I just want to wear a paper bag over my head. There is no way I am going to be able to find a hairdresser to fix this on Xmas Eve. What temporary fix can I buy in Boots or Superdrug to tone it down? Or any other ideas?

Purple shampoo brings out ash tones. You could also try a toner which they might have missed out in the rush. ?

AwfulBeryl · 23/12/2014 21:07

I absolutely promise it won't go blue.

The reviews on the Boots website look very good.

I like it!

CMOTDibbler · 23/12/2014 22:05

My hair is bright white at the front, and I use the purple shampoo, and unless you use it every day you don't go purple at all.

BoffinMum · 23/12/2014 23:02

Thank you everyone, will report back after shampoo use.

It looks nice Boffin you may well get used to it.

furcoatbigknickers · 23/12/2014 23:07

Only thing with that shampoo, din'tbe alarmed if you use it in the bath. It willbe bright purple!

HoHonutty · 23/12/2014 23:11

Purple shampoo is brilliant.

Enlli · 23/12/2014 23:16

Your hair looks fine. Honest. Mine is much blonder and I still don't look like a Russian prossi.

Enlli · 23/12/2014 23:17

I think if your hair is blonder than your used to then you just think its too blond but your hair is not too blond at all.

TheCraicDealer · 24/12/2014 20:13

Get the shampoo anyway, it's great for when you're at that "ooooh sort of need my colour done again" point, really brightens it up. And for three quid! Come on!

kerstina · 24/12/2014 21:15

I love your hair, its the colour I always want but end up with more golden tones. You will probably find it looks more muted once you wash it.

Cocolepew · 24/12/2014 21:27

It looks fine. Touch of Silver shampoos and conditioners are much cheaper in Home Bargains.

BoffinMum · 24/12/2014 22:32

Right, I have tried the purple shampoo (twice a week version) and left it on for five minutes as per the instructions, and I do believe it has toned it down a little. I think I may have another go tomorrow morning. I would take a photo but I think you wouldn't be able to see the difference in a picture.

Keep using it and it will definitely tone it down (not that I think it needs it) and stop any brassiness creeping in
