best gadget for creating curls

I have naturally wavy hair which can be persuaded to curl
I would like mad curls for going out though, like crystal tips if anyone remembers her
My friend swore by curling with straighteners. I got a nice shine and bouncy curls at the ends but not the mad curls I wanted
My hair is below shoulder with long layers
Is there a gadget that works?

Yep, the curl secret/ perfect curl is amazing. It's quicker than curling wands and the curls stay in for days.

It took her a while to get used to it.

Curl Secret for me too. I have very long, thick and frizzy hair. I wash it and give it a quick straighten then use CS, which takes about 15-20 mins for me as I have loads of hair. Curls last for ages too. Wish I'd bought one years ago instead of struggling with a wand.

I cannot speak for other gadgets as was so traumatised by youthful attempts with curling tongs that I've had straight hair for years and years. Moment of madness in hairdresser last weekend has led to rediscovering my 'waves' and panic-bought a curl secret on haidresser's recommendation. It's really really good at doing what it's meant to do. I quailed at the price but so far worth it (You Tube v useful for getting the hang of the method)

Thinking of getting one of these, my hair is naturally frizzy, would it need to be straightened before I used it do you think or could I get away with blasting it with the hairdryer and using it on my frizzy mop?

I would do a quick straighten first. It will make it less likely to get hair tangled in the gadget and it makes the curls 'smoother'.

Thanks pockle, my hairdresser used one on me yesterday and I was impressed! She didn't need to straighten it first although she does a better job than me drying it so it wasn't so frizzy.

I'm collecting mine tomorrow!
