Going to work in party frock?

Trying to figure out if this is the done thing or not. Previously have left work early for a lunch, but this year (new company) we have a conference, 90 min break and then the dinner.

I live 30-45mins away and CBA carrying around a change of clothes.

Frock is slinky and a bit bright for normal office wear but knee length and not too booby.

The done thing when I was at a company where we went straight from work to party, was to go to work in normal work clothes and then change into party frocks in the work toilets before leaving for the party. But different workplaces have different norms.

Is there anyone at your new company you could ask about what the done thing there is?

I've asked a few people and no consensus. Those with hotels (more than 20 moles so a fair chunk) will change in their rooms. Some others are changing in the loos, others going for the 'smart jeans / black trousers' and sparkly top get out that avoids changing.

Tbf some folk would wear my dress as a day dress but I am very hourglass so it is very slinky on me compared to if I link a model (will try to link anyway)

Can it be toned-down and un-slinked with a blazer or jacket and 'plain'-ish shoes or made to look 'skirt-ish' by putting a cardigan or shell over it with a jacket? 'Business' jewelry?

Otherwise, I'd change in the loo.

When I am performing in concerts, I usually have a rehearsal in the afternoon then have to kill a couple of hours in town before the concert. Like you, I cba with having to change so I wear my concert dress from the off, but with a big-knit cardi (or sometimes even hoody jumper - but that's probably no good for you at work) over the top to dress it down and so I don't feel so obviously over-dressed.

Completely off-topic but I now won't be able to sleep until I've established whether the singular of hoodies is hoodie or hoody.

Ok, it's slinky. How big can a 'slinky' dress be? Chuck it in a carrier bag then get changed at work. Leave work clothes at work. Collect when next in.

There are some women at my work who wear 'slinky' clothes in the office and they look ridiculous and unsurprisingly are not taken seriously.

I would change in the loos.

Ah it's an off-site so leave clothes at work not an option.

It can be un-slinked with a blazer though - that works.

Incidentally I don't work with moles or an other small burrowing creatures
