Not strictly style but I am about to cut ds's hair in approx 15 minutes - any tips?

His fringe needs a trim - do I just wet it and then try to cut straight across or what?

make sure the bowl is big enough

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2006 18:43

Heh, it would need to be a fairly big bowl that is for sure. Is straight across ok or should I be 'shaping' it? Never done this before, but every time he attends a hairdressers, he comes out with a short back and sides, no matter how many times I say "Just trim the fringe please". Hence I am taking matters into my own hands.

Basically, yes. But be aware that when the hair dries, it springs up! You can cut it dry. Kind of pinch small sections between the fingers of yur non-scissor haand and cut off the bits of hair that dangle out the bottom!

SoupDragon · 11/10/2006 18:45

Obviously depends what the rest of his hair looks like but you might want to shape it where the fringe meets the sides I guess.

Cut only a little off.

You can always cut it some more but you can't easily glue it back on again.

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2006 19:02

Good point. However if I cut loads off I won't be called upon to do it again for ages, or, in fact ever again

I've got a book I'd happily lend you, but I doubt it would arrive in time

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2006 19:05

Can you scan it TooTicky? I am a fast reader

southeastastralplain · 11/10/2006 19:07

you're meant to cut up into it rather than across i think

redbullbloodandbump · 11/10/2006 19:07

try cutting in to it so that way you dont end up with a straight or wonky fringe it looks as if it was cut 2 weeks ago and very smart

TooTickyTheAppleMuncher · 11/10/2006 19:09

Really? Dp could, I'm computer illiterrutt...

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2006 19:12

Oof I am up

"cut into it"?

Hmmm

OP posts:
bctmum · 11/10/2006 19:13

cut it dry and take less than you think it needs.

TooTickyTheAppleMuncher · 11/10/2006 19:14

Sorry Franny, some bugger's moved it This house has a mind of its own - every so often it gets up and shakes itself, and then I can't find anything...
I take my boys to the barber these days - ds1 in particular is too style-conscious (okay, downright obsessed with his appearance) to cope with a disaster, although I've never had one

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2006 19:19

I've done it. He still has both ears so I think I did a good job.

Tooticky you are very kind but I was just kidding

TooTickyTheAppleMuncher · 11/10/2006 19:20

Well, I wasn't entirely sure. I'm worryingly gullible though...

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2006 21:41

Sorry I wasted your time looking for it

OP posts:
TooTickyTheAppleMuncher · 11/10/2006 21:42

Goodness, only about a minute, don't worry
