Top lip - wax or thread?

Have a bit of a 'tache going on. It's only noticeable in some lights, and the hairs are fairly fine, but I'd like to get rid of it before Christmas.

Any useful advice as to whether waxing or threading would be the most effective? I'm not too bothered by the pain aspect, I think I have a pretty high pain threshold!

I hate to be the voice of doom but as somebody who has been getting their upper lip waxed for years (I'm 33 and started waxing when I was 15) , I have more fine lines on my upper lip than anywhere else on my face. The rest of my skin is great, but I do have fine lines around my upper lip. I asked a beautician and she said waxing can thin the skin so it is more prone to wrinkles. I've now been threading for 5months and hope it will halt the fine lines a little!

Threading, it hurts slightly more but waxing doesn't agree with my skin.

I just use facial hair removing cream from boots. Cheap, cheerful and does the job

I've tried home waxing, Veet, threading and that epistick.

Veet- doesn't last long enough.
Epistick- ouch.
Threading- double ouch (I get my eyebrows done so not a complete wuss)

Home waxing using Boots sensitive strips seems to work ok for me.
I'll live with the fine lines!

I have no experience of threading as no local salon offers it but waxing gives me spots.

Threading gives me terrible spots (aside from the pain, OMG!!!). And then I scar, I assume because the skin is so thin, v annoying

I've always bleached mine and it seems to disappear after that. Does anyone else do that or is it old school?!

Superdrug offers threading, and so does Debenhams.

I use a hot wax when I think my 'tasche is getting a bit obvious.

Loafers I'd add that the upper lip is one of the most mobile parts of the face.
Drinking, using a straw, smoking , all causes the top lip to pucker.
Top lip is also very prone to sun damage .
I cannot imagine that using a wax when needed would have that much effect?

It's obviously a split decision! I've seen those springy things before and wondered about them - I do epilate legs and underarms but haven't been brave enough to try on my top lip. Perhaps I'll pluck up the courage and see how it goes.

I second that waxing causes fine 'smokers lines', it tears at the delicate skin. I wish my beautician had warned me earlier, so definitely threading or hair removal cream.

I'dd recommend bleaching if its fine hair. I've done waxing / hair removal cream / facial epilator / Laser. Since the laser removed the thick hairs, Jolene bleach is all I need every month or so to remove the light shadowy bit.

Waxing or threading - I do both, the results are the same in my book. I wax my own tache with Veet strips (beware, the first time you do it you may get a red mark on your upper lip for hours, so don't do it before you go out).

Don't bleach it - you can still see the hairs really clearly in certain light.

Threading. I've been doing it for a couple of years and love how clean it feels afterwards. Stings like fuck but is over in a minute. The very first time I did it I felt numb for days!

I pay £2.50 at Superdrug atm. Used to pay £10 at posh salon. Ridiculous for a 2 min process.

Another one for threading. It hurts to buggery but it's quick.

Waxing doesn't get the really stubborn hairs out and threading lasts longer. I go to Superdrug and pay more than £2.50! If I have eyebrows and upper lip done, it's about £16!

Perhaps different Superdrug stores charge different rates. In Sheffield and Barnsley it costs £2.50 for upper lip and £5 for eyebrows. £16 sounds a lot. Is this in central London?

No, and when I go to London I have it done there (at a walk in place, not Superdrug) and it's as cheap as chips. Different superdrugs do probably charge different rates, you're right
