I'm going to be brave this Christmas and veer away from asking for my usual - Mugler Alien or Miss Dior. Would love to hear the scents that really have wowed. PS sorry for being a lazy bones and not trawling through the perfume thread. It is very informative and useful but sometimes I lose the will to live going through it all.

I love Dot by Marc Jacobs.

I used to like Sentiment by Escada.

IsabellaofFrance · 27/11/2014 07:10

That should say wear not like, I still like it very much Grin

Perfume I've had the longest is chanel chance (the light green one) - wore it everyday on my honeymoon and it always reminds me (and my dh) of that time

new perfume which everyone seems to like is ma vie by boss.

I love jasmine noir, its so rich and sophisticated. I stopped using it cos dh didn't like it but sod him I may get myself another bottle as it is ones of my all time favourites!

Another notable for me that i wear a lot is vanilla and anise by jo malone - feels very grown up and is a lovely warm scent for autumn/winter

I loved modern muse by Estée lauder but it literally last 5 mins on me. Gutted! The one I always return to is Narciso Rodriguez

I have Jimmy Choo "Flash" - it's divine and I get lots of compliments when I wear it. I have that weird skin that makes perfume that smells nice on other people smell like wee on me, but Flash smells gorgeous.

Chicinwellies · 27/11/2014 18:49

Haha wee, well it seems my skin may be similar. What lovely suggestions and lots to try !

Hypnotic poison. I love the smell of it. It's a bit like play dough.

Turquoiseblue · 27/11/2014 19:10

Another original Stella fan here (for evenings )
Really like a Jo Malone I smelt recently but when I wore it it turned into a really stenchy smelly yukky one.
Daytime I m loving calyx from Clinique (used to be prescriptives).

Chicinwellies · 16/12/2014 22:37

A shame to report that Bvlg Jasmine Noir is neither a man magnet nor lovely on me. It reminds me of an old aunt. On me anyway its not good.

Have had many compliments while wearing 'Nude' from Next - I think it's similar to Chanel Madamosielle (sp). Have got the CK 'red' & someone asked me what that was.

Would love Alien, but can never afford it :(

Imscarlet · 16/12/2014 23:14

I'm using Boss Ma Vie at the moment which is a nice rose but goes very quickly on me. Chanel Chance smells AWFUL on me too, glad it's not just me. I had hypnotic poison when I was in my early 20's and it got too sweet and cloying for me in the end. My current fav on me is La Vie Est Belle but I'm considering getting a Tom Ford from DH for Christmas. It will have to be bought blind as I'm not going to go sniffing between now and then so if any of you have a suggestion as to which one, I'd appreciate it, I think quite a few of you have similar tastes as me.

OHolyShite · 16/12/2014 23:19

My favourite is Armani Cuir Amethyste. So so beautiful.

The one that gets the most compliments is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. It's a serious man magnet. I have been sniffed lasciviously by more then one strange man when wearing it Blush .

I am also an Alien lover. I recently realised that 80% of my perfume collection is in purple bottles. What's that about??

Chicinwellies · 18/12/2014 14:50

Haha OHoly thats amusing. Alien is indeed a best. Will however attempt to find a spritz of Tobacco Vanille it sounds lush. You should try Laura Mercier Eau garamande(sp) vanille. Yum.

I'm wearing Annick Goutal's Nuit Etoilee at the moment, which smells just like Christmas trees combined with the peppermint creams that my mother used to make with leftover Christmas Cake icing. It was bought on a punt for a fiver from TK Maxx - result. It smells so Christmassy, just wished it lasted a bit longer Xmas Grin

I love perfume, but the only one that has ever elicited compliments from random strangers is AdP Colonia Assoluta.
