What is the best affordable priced foundation?

I usually use Clarins Silk Illusions but I am trying to save the pennies a little as I no longer work.

So I am looking for a off the shelf rather than an over the counter foundation but I am confused by them. I do need a decent coverage as I am early forties but nothing too cakey.

Any help out there? Confused

I really like Max Factor Miracle Touch foundation. It's a very light cream foundation that comes in a jar/compact with a sponge. I find it gives me full coverage without being cakey.

If you have a large city-centre Boots (like in Manchester's Arndale Centre) you may be able to test it, as they have a counter with testers and a sales assistant. I buy a lot of Max Factor products because they can be tested just like the more expensive department store lines.

I can't afford to get further supply of my usual Nars foundation so am trying out:

No 7 Lift and Luminate

Fatty get yourself some Healthy Mix Serum.
Identical to Radiant Glow.

I really like the no 7 illuminating foundation, and I also have the tinted moisturizer which I really like.

I love the Maybelline Staysure (?) because it really doe stay in place even though I am menopausal, and in hot classrooms all day Grin - is the only one that is still on when I leave school at then end of the day (and also survived a hairy day skiing when I decided just to see if it would Grin

I love MAC face and body. 120mls for £28 lasts for ever, and is build able without going cakey. I've got Estée double wear, the new Chanel one, and about five others but this is far and away the best. I use it with collection 2000 concealer, which is cheap as chips and got all sorts of rewards.
