We're into the 30 odd days until Christmas and I'm looking for some Christmas Day inspiration. What are you wearing on the big day?

OP posts:
ashtrayheart · 17/11/2014 22:29

Baggy T-shirt and elasticated trousers Grin

Greengardenpixie · 17/11/2014 22:30

Not sure tbh. Im not really sure that it matters that much either. Probably be a last minute thing. I have loads of stuff that i could wear.

beaverbill · 17/11/2014 22:35

Isn't it Stampy? I'm thinking of wearing whenever possible!

JaceLancs · 18/11/2014 00:37

Red black and cream striped sweater dress with black opaques and shoe boots

foxysocks · 18/11/2014 06:58

have narrowed it down to three options

navy sequin skirt with grey tee/jumper, opaques (and sheepskin slipper boots for inside, boots out)

dark grey skinnies with pewter sequin tee (ditto sheepskin slippers...)

leather leggings, black tee, grey draped cardigan and black pointed flats. maybe with necklace/cuff if i happen to unwrap them on christmas day...

HexYouSoThere · 18/11/2014 07:48

Pyjamas Grin

Stupidhead · 18/11/2014 08:16

Our first Christmas living together I wore a shirt red velvet 'Santa' dress with white feather trim for a laugh - it wasn't a sexy one! DP spent the morning sneezing so I assumed he was getting a cold. No, he was allergic to the feathers Confused spent the afternoon hoovering up bits of feather trim that covered the house.

AmberNectarine · 18/11/2014 08:20

Whatever I feel like wearing when I get up that morning, same as every day!

elQuintoConyo · 18/11/2014 08:49

Lacroix, Sweetie!

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 18/11/2014 09:05

Not a clue. We don't get dressed up, tends to be a lot of sitting on the floor, so it won't be anything overly fancy or restrictive.

hellsbellsmelons · 18/11/2014 09:41

Well.... first I got this as I loved it THIS but... I'm only 5ft 3" and it just didn't fit right. It was really stiff as well and uncomfortable and I thought I'd never get it off again.
Then I got THIS similar issue. Much nicer material but weird fit.
So I've now ordered 2 dresses to see which one I like the best and they are THIS ONE and THIS ONE TOO
Fingers crossed one of them fits.
I have lovely silver Ted Baker shoes to go with my Xmas dress.

hellsbellsmelons · 18/11/2014 09:43

Must add - we like to get dressed up as a family and it will be worn for any other Christmas parties we are invited to.

Glastokitty · 18/11/2014 09:45

Swimsuit, beach dress and thongs. May not be in the UK though so probably not very helpful. Grin

murphys · 18/11/2014 09:47

Shorts and a t-shirt. I will be on the beach Grin

hellsbellsmelons · 18/11/2014 10:07

Envy at you 2 PPs.
I wanna be in a hot country too!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 18/11/2014 10:13

Work wear for half the day, so something festive as I work with adults with learning disabilities.

The other half I'll be at home so something comfy stretchy as dp will be spoiling me with another dinner. I'll have one at work too Grin

CornChips · 18/11/2014 10:15

I am loving the Dorothy perkins knits! Might just buy for DS though.

Me, not sure. I have a really comfy monochrome wrap dress that looks quite good.

But very tempted by the fun knits. Especially the scotty dogs.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 18/11/2014 10:15

hellsbellsmelons I like the darker one, plus it's more practical if you spill the gravy (or wine) Wink

murphys · 18/11/2014 10:19

Hellsbells Grin

There are downsides though.....

Sand in your lunch is awful...
We wont have a proper Xmas lunch as its too hot
The Christmassy atmosphere just isn't the same. Cards with snow and frosted up windows really are just a little odd mid summer.

The rest though, I am ok with Wink.

CornChips · 18/11/2014 10:25

Do you ever do 'Christmas in July' Murphys? An Australian colleague told me that they often did a repeat of Christmas (not with presents though I think) in winter, so they could have all the traditional foods, hot toddies etc. I thought that sounded like alot of fun!

Dontstepinthecowpat · 18/11/2014 10:30

A dress I bought in GAP at the weekend it's black white leopard print, lovely fit with black opaque tights and patent heels. We are off out for lunch as I'm nightshift Christmas Day so I can just relax with the DC and DH without worrying about soups and stuffing (and no dishes!) Grin

murphys · 18/11/2014 10:33

Corn, we usually do our Christmas type lunch at Easter, although its still not winter it is cooler then.

I did say we never do lunch at Christmas, that is a bit of stretch of the truth really, we never have it on Christmas day though, if we ever do then it will be on the night of Christmas eve. Its cooler then in the evening to eat such a heavy meal.

Christmas day meal will depend on where we are. As it is our dc 6 week summer holiday during this time, lots of families are on their annual holiday away, so in our case, we will be camping, so we will have a fish bbq or something along those lines. If we were at home, we would have leftovers from the meal at Christmas eve, so cold turkey and ham with salads.

The kids will try out their gifts and spend the day by the pool etc. Quite a different Christmas to what we had in the UK.

CornChips · 18/11/2014 10:53

It sounds like bliss!

PhoebeMcPeePee · 18/11/2014 11:04

I've just bought this dress from Ted Baker for a Christmas party and will probably wear it Christmas Day too as it's fitted but has got a bit of stretch in it Wink. Can't decide whether to go with opaques & shoe boots or sheets & heels.
