Three litres of water a day

I stumbled across this article, originally published in the daily mail, about a woman who drank 3 litres of water a day and the benefits she noticed.

I started on Monday and my skin feels better already, I think. I'm taking snaps of myself to see if I can see any improvement.

Does anyone drink this much? It's quite an effort for me.

I have about 9 cups of coffee or tea a day 250mls approx each, mainly decaf, plus water with meals and a good litre of water when I run which is most days. There's a lot of water in veg and fruit too.

So that's a lot of fluid, although it's not something I do on purpose iyswim.

I have good skin (excepting a monthly hormonal chin spot) but put it down to good nutriton, exercise and sunscreen.

I couldn't survive on only 3 litres a day I have 6-8 any less and I get awful cystitis. You should halve your body weight in lbs and have that in oz of water.

The health benefits are a myth but if you feel better (and don't have any particular health issues relating to water/mineral metabolism Wink), then knock yourself out!

This may have arising from recommendations in 1945 when rationing and food sparsity was a real issue. 2l of fluid/day/adult was meant to incorporate ALL fluid including naturally occurring water in fruit and vegetable.

There's nothing wrong with drinking as much as we feel like drinking - when we feel 'thirsty', we're middy dehydrated though.
Drinking less coffee/tea/alcohol is A Good Thing, but that's true independently from water consumption.

colour of urine is not very acurate though.
if you take multivit or eat a lot of carotene containing veg (beetroo, carrots) that will havd an effect in urine colour.

That is an awful lot. Have you been checked for diabetes? If I drank half my body weight I would have to drink about three and a half pints of fluid a day, which I already do. Using your reckoning if you are drinking 6 - 8 litres a day then you must weigh over 30 stone!
