So, dd is in need of some new clothes to get through the winter. Having looked at all the usual places , tesco, asda, H&M matalan everything just looks so , cheap and trashy for want of a better phrase. She hates skinny jeans and doesn't like gordy patterns or slogans across everything. I'm just after some smart but casual, comfy, reasonably priced clothes. She's 8 so it's just starting to matter that things look well made and last well rather than cheap stuff that gets ruined and then binned (which is fine for toddlers and young children obviously) .

So any recommendations of Web sites to look at.,
Tia

Atm I like Gap. I find their sizes true to size or slightly on the big side for my tallish 9yo. Usually good quality. Buy only when there's a discount.
Also I still find H&M good, but she's now at the bigger girls age so I find it a bit harder to chose there.
Not so keen on Next. Primark no, really don't like their cotton. Tesco rarely, again a bit too tatty too quickly.
Zara occasionally, and def worth a look, keep an eye in the sales too.
My Cos only goes up to age 8, but they have lovely stuff.
M&S I find v hard to shop there for kids, a bit random. I have got party dressed there.
Lands'End (online) for winter jackets. Great quality, warm and quite waterproof. Tho style-wise I think DD will only agree to wear for another year or 2.

Here is the size guide. DD is a tallish 9, and fits well in the M.

Thanks Smile

Some nice things there but very £££ I'm guessing she will need a s then as she's about 120 cm

I know you said you don't live near any decent shops but is there is a chance of you taking dd to a nearby town with good shops one day? I just say that because I find it so hard to buy stuff online for the dc, I'm forever sending stuff back witu various sizing issues and all shops have different issues. Most places do free returns but still time consuming.

Once or twice a year I take the dc to our nearest decent shopping place and we try on things before we buy and make sure we're satisfied with everything.

However, if yoi still want to buy online I find Bhs, Debenhams and Pumpkin Patch are all decent. I've signed.up to their emails and get regular discount codes for all three.

Also, I'm liking asda's range at the moment. Not sure if you've been in there lately but like you I usually find their stuff a bit cheap looking and can be age inappropriate but this season's range is lovely imo.

I do plan in.the holidays to take dd. I just wo t have time until then so wanted to get her in a few bits fir winter.

Have opened an account with one so I don't have to pay yet which means I can return and then pay outright for what I've ordered. And on Lewis will deliver to wait rose which we now have so that's another bonus.

Will check out the other link I just got. And do intend to take dd to try stuff on. She hates doing that though Angry

Gap and Boden almost exclusively now. Only during promotions (Gap had 40% off this weekend and kitted the girl out for camp. I had to buy her a disco outfit: dress, tights and sparkly shoes all for £25, which I though was excellent value).

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/11/2014 18:59

I just ordered stuff on the gap site sale items got to end and it wiped my basket Angry

If your dd is slim for her height then Sainsburys is definitely the best of the supermarkets. I stock up on plain leggings/pjs etc for my dd when they have their 25% off weekends, as it's the only place where if the leg is long enough an elasticated waist will be tight enough.

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/11/2014 20:10

Sadly no sainsbury that sells clothes aside from uniform once a year.

But will definitely keep an eye on line fir the 25% off weekends and maybe I can rope someone into giving me a lift up there.
