Nivea in the blue pot

People always rave about it but is it really any good? And if so why?
Do you put it on your face? As eye cream? What if you're acne prone?
I've always wondered about it and saw it mentioned on another thread about eye cream.

I bought the big blue pot yesterday. have been signed off with a virus until Monday and went to visit my GP yesterday. She recommended it as (in her words) I looked like I'd been run over by a truck (thanks!!!). went home to the couch, and slathered it on and have let it sink in. Skin this morning feels really soft.

benefit is that it was only £1.89.

Superdrug had a sale on so I bought the Nivea naturals night cream, feels lovely and only a couple of quid.

I got some in the blue pot and some of the lighter stuff in the tube. Last night I filed my feet and slathered the blue tub stuff on and put cotton socks on. Lovely soft feet! Grin
Also used some today on my hands after cleaning as they were all rough and dry, so much better now!

This cream is comedegenic and I would not advise not using it on your skin, will cause black heads, spots and potential skin congestion. However if you've been using it for years and it hasn't been a bother then you have very robust skin!

Ememem84 · 05/11/2014 21:59

Confused on two counts. What does comedegenic mean? And why woul you not use a face cream on your face?

Am I missing something? Only asking as have just put more on my face....

Kundry · 05/11/2014 22:05

It means it promotes blackheads and spots. Which Nivea will do if you are prone to them as it is a v thick, oily cream.

If you aren't prone then go for it.

I use it on holiday as the pots are convenient but any longer and the spots would be there. Also after using it, I look like a total oil slick so I make sure the lights are out straight after Grin.

But if that isn't your experience, great. It is a good cheap moisturiser but if you have other skin issues, or you want more modern ingredients, other products are out there that will suit you better.

Ememem84 · 05/11/2014 22:09

Ah. Not usually prone. So won't scrape it off just yet. This is only day 2 of using though.

Lovely word though comedegenic.

I Susanne like the Nivea night cream, not very moisturising at all. I'll stick to the blue pot and Nivea soft for day.
