Need flat comfortable ankle boots for lots of walking

By walking I mean school run, shopping etc. I walk 5+ miles a day. But I also live in a very stylish European city and want to look chic.

Are biker boots still "in"? I usually live in Converse until it gets cold enough to wear my knee-high boots, but a) it's warmer here and b) I think I'd feel scruffy in Converse around here.

My usual style of clothes is the MN cliche of slim jeans, long cardi or trench, neutral colours, stripy top. I'm tall and reasonably slim, slightly worried that I won't feel feminine in biker boots.

Any recommendations hugely appreciated - thanks!

Blundstones are very comfy and hard wearing

Chelsea boots would be a good style for you. Flat and classic.

photocop · 02/11/2014 17:16

Thanks Cointreau. Slight worry that my size 8.5 feet might look even larger in them. Will need to try on.

Skinny jeans tucked in I assume?

The Blundstones look a bit chunky for my taste, but thanks anyway ggirl.

I got a lovely pair of ankle boots from Aldo 2 years ago that are now on their 3rd winter and still going strong! I wear them with skirts and skinny jeans and I think they look good with both.

sort of like these

I have these and they are ridiculously comfortable:

Try Ecco. Lots of lovely comfy boots.

Those Camper chelsea boots are fantastic. They are going on my "must have" list.

OP I think biker boots can look feminine. They need to be soft leather, not too chunky on the sole & only a small amount of hardware. Dune has some lovely examples.

What do you think of these?

or these?

Clarks have some and at least I could try them on locally and not risk having to return something when postage overseas is so pricey

not bad?

i walked all around a city in my Clarks busby chelsea boots last week - were fine

NoelleHawthorne · 02/11/2014 18:34

everyone in Berlin in chelsea boots too, it seemed
Or trainers

Quodlibet · 02/11/2014 18:40

Have a look at Hudson boots. Very well made and last ages - mine are on their 6th winter, had them resoled once, but I've worn them loads.

They aren't cheap but there's a few styles in the Office sale currently.

polyhymnia · 02/11/2014 18:51

If you live in a stylish city, OP, don't the local shops offer inspiration? For example, in Spain there are lots of great shoe shops and brands .
I Like the camper Chelseas, leedy. Are they easy to pull off and on?

photocop · 02/11/2014 18:51

Hudson has a pair I really like thanks Quodlibet.
Is the sizing generous? I can sometimes get away with an 8 in boots but not always. (I'm officially 8.5).

OP posts:
leedy · 02/11/2014 19:05

Really easy, there's good stretch in the elasticated bit.

photocop · 02/11/2014 19:18

The problem is the shoes don't go beyond a 41 here, and I'm 42-42.5!

polyhymnia · 02/11/2014 19:21

Thanks.I love the grey version. Haven't tried on Campers in a while. Is their sizing true? ( I take a 41).

leedy · 02/11/2014 22:39

Yes, they're pretty true to size.

polyhymnia · 02/11/2014 23:12

Thanks. Get your point on size, OP. I quite often buy shoes in Italy and am aware that as a size 41 am at upper limit.
