Don't know about anyone else (probably not!) but they are as essential for me as my annual new pair of Rudolph pyjamas.... Grin

I am a bit of a Christmas nut though

Happy36 · 27/10/2014 21:18

Yes! I think the only rules are that you must wear them at Christmas and never try to wear them "ironically". In for a penny, in for pound!

StepAwayFromTheBloodyCorpse · 28/10/2014 15:58

I would have said no but today in Primark yes really there was a fluffy dusky pink jumper dusted with a subtle snowflake print it looked really lovely. have to say there were loads of less subtle fun ones with fluffy polar bears and the like that were nice too.

MimiSunshine · 28/10/2014 16:10

Yes, but only on Christmas eve for me. I wore mine with 'leather' trousers down the pub last year.
And I do think you have to go all in, novelty reindeer / snowmen etc or patterned, anything else / subtle just misses the mark and looks a bit crap compared to everyone else's.

CointreauVersial · 28/10/2014 16:16

I have tasteful one, which gets wheeled out for festive occasions, and yes, I think it's perfectly acceptable. Navy blue with white snowflakes. Probably not in the spirit of festive jumpers because it isn't really tacky enough.

It is actually DH's jumper, but I liked it so much we decided to share it.Grin It's oversized on me; looks nice with skinny jeans.

They have become really popular in the last couple of years.

Patilla · 28/10/2014 16:19

Well I've ignored them for years on the basis that I remembered them the first time around.

Last night I caved in Primark to a navy one with a repeating pattern of holly and snowmen.

I wouldn't say it's tasteful but it's full flavour Christmas and if you can't do that at Christmas when can you?!

candykane25 · 28/10/2014 16:23

As another christmas nut, Christmas jumpers are essential. I've just bought a Mrs Claus jumper from Primark, it is so OTT, there is no way of making it stylish but that's not really the point. The look I'm aiming for is made-for-tv American Christmas movie.
I also have more jazzy ones which are for going out in, the Topshop ones are fab for this. I have a couple of snowflake pattern ones for general winter wear, and a couple of stag ones. And quite a few Nordic style jumpers. I also wear tons of red and green.
But then I watch Christmas movies all year round.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/10/2014 16:31

I am very much in the, 'Absolutely Not' Camp, but I may well be on my own there. Dp says he's having one this year, and I've told him he'll be finding somewhere else to spend Christmas, if he does. :)

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 28/10/2014 16:33

Bah humbug remus

desperatehousewife21 · 28/10/2014 16:33

I've got to work on boxing day this year so I'll be wearing one then prob with tinsel in my hair and novelty earrings Grin Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/10/2014 16:33

Yup! Grin

KoalaDownUnder · 28/10/2014 16:35

I don't know how you can tell whether someone's wearing one 'ironically' or not. Either way, I wouldn't be seen dead in one.

Admittedly, I am in Australia and it's usually too hot to wear clothes at all (spent last Christmas Day in the pool), let alone a jumper! Grin

CointreauVersial · 28/10/2014 16:51

Blimey, Candy, you really buy into all that Christmas shizz, don't you?

I guess the clue is in the name....

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 28/10/2014 17:20

I like them. I have only got one (not enough space in my wardrobe for more).

But then, I would love to buy matching Christmas pyjamas for the whole family...

mooth · 28/10/2014 17:47

Oh God yes. The less subtle, the better.

aylesburyduck · 28/10/2014 18:12

I go for the "sod stylish" approach when donning a Christmas jumper. The naffer and sillier the better.

I should say that I will only wear them for the week before Christmas by which point I am so full of Baileys and mince pies I don't care about being stylishGrin

CleverPlansAndSecretTricks · 28/10/2014 18:40

Omg senatus can you really buy matching pyjamas for the whole family? Including toddler? I need a link!

WilburIsSomePig · 29/10/2014 04:07

Christmas jumpers are ace!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 29/10/2014 10:03

You sure can CleverPlans the matching family ones are a bit too American cheesey but you can get them on Amazon.

Me and ds just get new red Rudolph ones each year instead of the matching ones!

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 29/10/2014 10:59

CleverPlans a few good examples here

candykane25 · 29/10/2014 11:32

Oh my goodness. So tempted

family Santa pjs

carrie74 · 29/10/2014 11:44

OMG those matching family PJs!!!! Wahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

God I LOVE them. H would have a sense of humour failure though. I've bought the kids new PJs already for Xmas, but I'm SO tempted.

SuperFlyHigh · 29/10/2014 11:55

My friend had to wear one for a work charity event last year.

I bought in a fit of madness a Cath Kidston Penguin sweatshirt (complete with snow) and used it for decorating this year....

i do have a nice Sparkle and Fade Urban Outfitters black with silver glitter jumper that I bought about 2 years ago but that's more glam than Crimbo and my SIL and her SIL both wanted one when they saw it

ShelaghTurner · 29/10/2014 12:01

I ignored them previously but this year have caved and now have 4 Christmas jumpers Hmm. I don't think the Christmas season is long enough to wear all of them...

5446 · 29/10/2014 12:24

I have a lovely Nordic one that has been going for a few years that I wear over winter.

Each year I then buy one cheap novelty one from ebay or Primark. Last year was the Home Alone quote one.
