"Slippers" or "House Shoes"?

What do you call them? What do posh people call them? I ask because I've got a website selling my hand sewn felt slippers and today an advisor said I should perhaps call them "house shoes". It hadn't even entered my head. I thought that was a bit American but maybe I'm wrong. I'd really welcome your opinion. thanks!

Northumberlandlass, would you say either of you is the posh one?

Tried google images for "house shoes" and "slippers". "House shoes" definitely showed a lot more men's stuff so maybe it's more of a gender bias.

sorry thought I hadn't posted, did it again and here are both on page 2 Blush
Thanks all for your views. My grandma had a house coat too. It went over her day clothes and accessorized well with a turban/headscarf thingy.

those felt things are slippers.

Here we change our shoes at the door, and often wear a soft, flat shoe or moccasin indoors, which I suppose you could call a house shoe.

I wouldn't buy something called a house shoe, I'd consider the term naff. I do buy slippers.
(Really quite posh, here)

Thank you! I don't want any naff around here.

No poshness here at all!! That's why I always laugh at DH when he says it Smile
