Am I too old for this 'look'?

I know I should wear what the hell I like but I have a real fear of looking like mutton dressed as lamb. Ive seen a dress I like for day time, its just above the knee, black with tiny white flowers not very fitted apart from at the waist. If I wear it with a long black cardi, opaques and ankle boots will I look like a twat? I'm 47 but not ready for the twin set and pearls just yet.

I'm watching closely to see if anyone comes up with some nice comfy boots that couldn't be described as 'mum boots'. (Whose existence I only discovered on MN!)
Enjoy your dress - and wearing what you like!

Fly london wedges are my favourite. They all dont appeal to me though.....but I cannot stand ugly pointy shoes with pins for heels. Totally ugly imo. We all have different likes and dislikes!!! Its quite amazing!
