Is this "inventable" and if so how would I go about finding someone to invent it for me?

I've always loved a really dramatic eyelash curl. I've got naturally small, plain little eyes and curling my eyelashes makes a massive difference.

I find it really hard to get the results I want though. There is this one set of eyelash curlers on the market that fits my eye shape perfectly and gives me the perfect curl for the first two or three times I use them. But they have a spring on them and seemingly this spring gets less springy after a few uses and after that the curl is no longer in the same league.

The Shu Uemura curlers on the other hand fit my eye shape very badly but the "amount" of curl I get remains fairly consistent even after thousands of uses.

I've tried every other curler on the market but can't find one that both fits my eye shape and gives a consistent dramatic curl. Do you think it would be possible to employ someone to somehow chop two different curlers up and swap the bits round so I had the Shu Uemura handles and the other brand eye bits? And if so where would I find such a person? Iron mongers? Welder?? I know this sounds like a crazy idea but I think it would make me very happy if I could solve this problem!

You just want to get on Dragon's Den don't you??? I did hear or read somewhere that some eyelash curlers are made for asian eyes (eg almond shaped so suit them better. I suppose that may be true of Shu Umera - however many english people seem to get on well with it as do I and I am round eyed. Don't know what to say. I have tried many but Shu are the only ones I can use.

Have you tried using waterproof mascara as that holds the curl better. I only use waterproof anyway as my eyes run so much (nothing to do wit wearing make up).

RE: consistent dramatic curl.

Try warming your curler that fits your eye shape with a hair dryer before you use it and then holding it in place for about 30 seconds.

BE CAREFUL though - they can get hot and you don't want to burn yourself.

Thanks Deathraystare and CheersMedea but I already use waterproof mascara and I actually kneel in front of the hairdryer blast when I'm curling so the curlers are hot throughout the curling. And I don't get awful results but I want excellent results. It makes a really big difference to my face.

When I was younger I used to buy 8 pairs of the good eyelash curlers a month and just use them once or twice then throw them away but I can't really afford to do that these days (and the ones I used to use went off the market and the ones I just found may or may not be the same make rebranded but they are more expensive than the old ones).

Wouldn't it be easier to get the spring replaced?

sleepingbetternow82 · 22/10/2014 21:49

I've been thinking about that actually SWIMTHECHANNEL but it doesn't look very replaceable. It's kind of welded into place and I'd have to cut through metal to remove it. Maybe I could write to the company though and suggest replaceable springs. I wouldn't see any results for a few years though.
