hush wrist warmers

My hands were cold on the school run this morning. I have gloves, but need my fingers free. Are wrist warmers the thing I need? They also sell fingerless gloves. What is the difference do you know?

Arm warmers are great for stopping draughts up your sleeves but not that great for cold fingers - you're probably best getting fingerless gloves with flip top mitten attachments.

Stokey · 22/10/2014 13:12

I got some Brora ones last winter in the sale, great for typing when you're working from home and can't justify putting the heating on.

SmileAndNod · 22/10/2014 13:59

I have the flap over mittens already and they are annoying me a bit, which made me think of the wrist warmers. Will have a look at brora, thank you

I got ones from Hush before and they were pants. Really flimsy.
But have Brora arm warmers for the last two years and love them!
Brora is crap for discounts though, unfortunately.

starfishmummy · 22/10/2014 14:29

I find wristwarmers (armwarmers) do keep my fingers surprisingly warm. In very cold weather I wear a looser pair layered up over my leather gloves

ihatethecold · 22/10/2014 14:35

I really want some wrist warmers. I'm cold already.
I'm working from home today in a north facing room.
I'm sat on a hot water bottle with the sofa throw wrapped round me.

Stokey · 22/10/2014 14:57

Do you have a portable radiator ihatethecold? I got an oil-filled one last winter for working from home and is on right now, next to me.

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 22/10/2014 15:52

Yes, you need wristwatches! I have some from Hush and they're nice in a gauzy kind of way, but Brora are far better. I collect them every time they have a sale.

There is a seller on eBay you might want to look at - I can't link as am using my Kindle but it's called Luxury Scottish Knitwear. Haven't used them yet myself but they have lots of nice-looking cashmere wristies for good prices.

I agree they keep hands surprisingly warm! I used to wonder why people bought them...then I found out Grin

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 22/10/2014 15:54

Oh ffs...my first ever autocorrect, how annoying. WRISTWARMERS not wristwatches!

ihatethecold · 22/10/2014 16:02

No I haven't got an oil filled radiator.
I would like one though.
I'm sure I should be living in a warm country.

JustSpeakSense · 22/10/2014 16:12

These are lovely and warm they come in grey or black

MilkThistle187 · 22/10/2014 16:13

I wouldn't survive winter without wristwarmers, I have a few pairs incl a Brora pair but my cashmere ones from M&S are my favourites

ihatethecold · 22/10/2014 18:19

£35 though.
So much money.

SmileAndNod · 22/10/2014 19:45

I know. It is. But I still have a bit of birthday money left (and I had a rubbish day) so I might treat myself the next time a discount day happens. I really don't do cold. Will keep an eye out for the brora sale as they have such lovely colours.

For a cheaper option try fingerless thermal glove liners. You can then sling any fingerless gloves over the top. If it gets really cold you can stick thermal mittens over the top instead

Coffeeinapapercup · 22/10/2014 19:55

Like these you can put any old pretty gloves over the top

MilkThistle187 · 22/10/2014 20:12

£35 but you will wear them for 6 months of the year, so less than £6 per month, or £1.50 a week. Not much to keep your hands warm for the whole winter Smile

plentyofshoes · 22/10/2014 22:15

Mil buys me gloves from Fat face every year for xmas. They are finger less, but have a flap that pulls over? If that makes sense Grin

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 23/10/2014 00:00

HERE is a link to the eBay seller I mentioned upthread - lots of cashmere wristies in the £20-£30 range. They are Johnstons, which is a decent make I think.

ihatethecold · 23/10/2014 05:54

Thanks. I did have a look at eBay.
I will check your link out.
I wonder if tkmaxx ever has them in?

Turquoiseblue · 23/10/2014 06:15

I highly recommend wrist Warmers .
As the pp stayed you will we war them maybe 6 months if the year. Grin
I have a huge selection a few pairs and rotate them. Hush ones are lovely. In colder weather I wear them with leather gloves.

maybemyrtle · 23/10/2014 09:02

After deciding that the Brora ones were too much £££ for what they are I bought some from the ebay seller Anathema linked to and they're great. Do the trick nicely and you can't beat the price - I think they accepted a best offer too.

mypetdragon · 24/10/2014 09:48

Brora have a clearance section in their Richmond store. The staff are very helpful. If you call the branch (or any branch) they will find you some in previous season colours which are much cheaper - £22 if I remember correctly.

FreeButtonBee · 24/10/2014 09:57

I have a lovely White Co pair - extra long so I can pull them over my fingers if needed and then push them back when I need to use my hands.

AllBuggiedOut · 24/10/2014 15:59

Ooh, you need these. Lovely and warm, keep their shape really well unlike knitted ones.
